Financial Hurdle Cleared in California

Grand Californian Hotel

Multiple sources are reporting that the Disney board has approved a budget of nearly one billion dollars worth of renovations to Disney’s California Adventure theme park.  MiceAge.com’s Al Lutz and the increasingly insightful Blue Sky Disney blog both commented on this development last week, declaring the $1Bil investment as being more than Disney originally spent to build DCA.

Both sources contend that plans for a left-coast DVC were intertwined with the renovations of DCA.  According to Lutz, “[t]he Disney Vacation Club (DVC) units that were slated to begin work this year at the Grand [Californian], and then put on hold while the DCA budget saga worked itself out, are now back on the front burner.”

Perhaps we will soon be hearing more about those construction trailers sitting outside the California DVC sales center.
