Lewis: Sites in Nevada, Caribbean Under Consideration

Other / Prospective Resort

At a recent gathering of Florida timeshare executives organized by the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, Disney Vacation Club President Jim Lewis revealed that sites in Lake Tahoe and the Caribbean are under consideration for DVC facilities.

An Orlando Sentinel article by Beth Kassab details some of Lewis' comments at this months' industry event:

Lewis, whose Disney time-share unit recently announced a new project in Hawaii, admits he would have been embarrassed a decade or so ago to tell his mother he was in time-share sales.

Not any longer.

With construction of the Hawaii resort getting under way, Lewis said he's now scouting sites in Nevada on Lake Tahoe and the Caribbean.

"We have not seen any slowdown," Lewis told the group.

Among DVC's current projects are the Kidani Village structure at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas (early-2009 opening), approximately 50 units at Disneyland's Grand Californian Hotel (late-2009 opening) and 400+ units on Hawii's island of Oahu (2012 opening.)  Speculation also contines on the nature of the tower being erected at the Disney's Contemporary Resort.
