Another Grand Floridian DVC leak?

Other / Prospective Resort

This week's Walt Disney World Resort Update at website MousePlanet.com has word of construction permit which make be of interest to Grand Floridian followers.

According to MousePlanet, the following permit application was filed with Orange County within the past week:

STOLport – installation of trailer compound for Grand Floridian Villas project

The STOLport is a former airplane landing strip located on the eastern side of the roadway leading up to the Transportation and Ticket Center.   STOLport has been used numerous times in recent years as a staging area for Magic Kingdom-area projects including construction of the Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

Rumors of a Disney Vacation Club addition to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort emerged in March 2011 when Disney applied for permits with the South Florida Water Management District.  The enigmatically-named "Project 2011-1" bears a striking resemblance to Disney Vacation Club villas in images and drawings accompanying the permit application.

Disney representatives would not confirm any immediate plans to expand the Grand Floridian Resort.
