2011 Points Charts up; weekends fall further

DVC Policies & Procedures

Demonstrating how skewed the Disney Vacation Club Points Charts had apparently become, the charts have been modified for the second consecutive year to further increase the cost of weekday stays while lowering weekend costs.

Mirroring the 2010 changes, the points charts for 2011 have been modified to further reduce the cost of weekend stays at the expense of weeknights.

For example, a weekday night in a Two Bedroom Villa at the Beach Club during Choice Season went from 32 points per night in 2009 to 35 points in 2010 and finally up to 38 points per night in 2011.  Meanwhile the weekend cost decreased from 61 points per night in 2009 down to 52 in 2010 and finally 44 points per night in 2011.

As the timeshare program manager, Disney Vacaiton Club has the right to adjust the nightly point values to better correspond to member demand.  There is a 20% annual cap on the number of points by which a given day may change from year to year.  This second consecutive reallocation suggests that the weekday/weekend imbalance was so severe that it required an adjustment greater than 20%.

The reallocations which occurred for 2010 were the first changes to the DVC Points Charts since 1996.

No changes were made to the established DVC seasons aside from normal annual adjustments for changing holiday periods like Easter and Thanksgiving.

The 2011 Points Charts are in the process of being posted to DVCMember.com in a PDF format.  Links to charts for each of the Disney Vacation Club resorts can be found below:
