No more pool hopping to Poly

Member Benefits and Perks

The pools at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort have joined the growing list of Walt Disney World resorts excluded from the DVC member pool hopping perk.

When the Nanea Volcano Pool reopens from its refurbishment later this year, one of its additions may be a "no pool hopping" sign.  More than 300 days per year, Disney Vacation Club members are entitled to visit a variety of Walt Disney World resort pools while using their points at a Florida-based DVC resort.

Several pools have long been excluded from the pool hopping perk--most notably Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and Uzima Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.  In recent years, Disney has added numerous swimming holes to the exclusion list.  Dating back to 2009, the following pools have debuted with no pool hopping permitted or had their previous pool hopping perks restricted:

  • Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower
  • Samawati Springs at Kidani Village, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas
  • All pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort

The latest casualties are the feature pool and leisure pool at the Polynesian, which now prohibit member pool hopping.

Disney does appear to be taking an analytical approach to these restrictions.  Despite limits in place at Bay Cove Pool, members can still hop to the main pool at Disney's Contemporary Resort.  And no restrictions were imposed after the opening of the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Pool hopping is available Disney Vacation Club members and their guests when using points for any Walt Disney World resort or Disney's Vero Beach Resort.  A Magic Band or DVC member ID card may be requested to confirm eligibility.  Members may be asked to leave if the pool reaches capacity.  Pool hopping is suspended during a series of high-occupancy blockout dates.  Blockout dates for 2015 are as follows:

  • January 1 - 4, 2015
  • February 14 - 21, 2015
  • March 21 - April 5, 2015
  • June 27 - July 11, 2015
  • September 5 - 7, 2015
  • November 22 - 29, 2015
  • December 19 - 31, 2015
