January 2015 sales update; Polynesian and Aulani point sales added

Financial News & Pricing

In January 2015, Disney Vacation Development posted its best month for sales since July 2014. Led by very strong sales for the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, 223,676 Disney Vacation Club points were sold in January, an increase of 56.5% when comparing sales for the same resorts in December 2014.

The monthly sales report now includes point sales data for Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Deeds for the Polynesian began appearing on the Orange County Comptroller’s website on January 27, 2015, just 15 days after sales began. Due to recent changes to the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances’ website, sales data is posted more timely and can now be included in the monthly update. With these additions, point sales for all DVC resorts except the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel are included in the monthly sales report.

DVC Direct Sales - January 2015

Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows — Sales for the Polynesian began on January 12, 2015, and 118 deeds containing 13,148 points were filed in January. Of the 118 deeds recorded, six were for guaranteed weeks. Three guaranteed deeds were for Lake View studios, two deeds were for Standard View studios, and one deed was for a bungalow.

Based on records filed by Disney Vacation Development with the Orange County Comptroller, the Polynesian has about 4,032,720 total points, making it the sixth largest DVC resort at Walt Disney World in terms of points. Only Disney's Beach Club Villas, Grand Floridian, and the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge are smaller.

Disney Vacation Development has declared 10 of the Polynesian’s 20 bungalows and 142 of its 360 studios for the DVC inventory. This initial declaration accounts for 1,641,604 points, which is 40.71% of the resort's total points. Until more declarations are made, DVC members cannot book more than 40.71% of the Polynesian on any given Use Day.

Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa -- In January 2015, the Grand Floridian had its second best month for sales in its history. 139,150 points were sold for the month, second only to the 226,439 points that were sold in July 2013. The Grand Floridian has now sold 2,079,328 points, 82.5% of its total points. There are about 391,000 points that can still be sold to the general public.

In January, seven guaranteed week deeds were sold for the Grand Floridian, bringing to 251 the number of guaranteed week deeds that have been sold. These deeds account for only 4.3% of the points sold. 106 of the 251 guaranteed week deeds have been for the last six weeks of the calendar year. However, even for these six weeks, the maximum number of guaranteed week deeds — 35% — has not been sold for any accommodation type in any week.

Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas — In January, 250 Aulani deeds containing 42,463 points were filed with the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances.

Although this is the first month that point sales are being tracked for Aulani, the number of deeds have been available since sales began in July 2010. The number of deeds sold in January 2015 is well below the average number of deeds sold in the last year — 428 — and is the lowest number of deeds sold since December 2013. Thus, point sales in January 2015 for Aulani may have been lower than in prior months.

The sales data includes all nine DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds, and the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances.
