After a very slow month for sales in November 2014, direct sales of Disney Vacation Club points improved slightly in December 2014. For the month, 107,422 points were sold, an increase of 12.3% over the previous month. Despite the increase, sales in December were well below the 143,187 points that sales averaged in the previous 12 months.
Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa -- In December 2014, 91,775 points were sold for the Grand Floridian, an increase of 27.6% over the prior month. The Grand Floridian has now sold 1,940,178 (77.0%) of its total points. There are about 530,000 remaining points that can still be sold to the general public.
If Grand Floridian sales were to continue at the same rate as the last three months, Disney Vacation Development would run out of points for it in about six months. However, there are a couple factors that should slow the pace of sales at the Grand Floridian. Sales for Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows started on January 12, 2015, so some of DVD's marketing focus will shift away from the Grand Floridian. In addition, the Polynesian is being offered initially for $160 a point, slightly less than Grand Floridian's current price of $165 a point. This may make the Polynesian more attractive to buyers who are deciding between the two resorts.

In December, two fixed week deeds were sold for the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, bringing to 244 the number of fixed week deeds that have been sold. These deeds account for only 4.4% of the points sold. 103 of the 244 fixed week deeds have been for the last six weeks of the calendar year. However, even for these six weeks, the maximum number of fixed week deeds — 35% — has not been sold for any accommodation type in any week.
The sales data includes all eight DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel or for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds.
