Default Whispering Canyon Cafe to be 'toned down'

Guests may find a more subdued atmosphere during their next visit to Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

I didn't mine the ketchup antic, but I have to admit that the noise in Whispering Canyon did NOT make a relaxed meal. So toning it down a bit is okay with me.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the concierge folks that got moved to the other wing. The lounge is now located right over Whispering Canyon.

As someone who enjoys relaxing peacefully in that lobby, this is good news.

I'm all for the less noise - never understood why it was cafeteria loud - why pay TS prices for a QS feel.

    Default Unexpected Change

There are also some menu changes. One of the changes they made was they no longer have pancakes on the menu. And you can’t get real maple syrup upon request.

So only waffles or french toast are an option then? I have to admit I didn't know you could get real maple syrup. It does taste better than the other kind IMO, but boy is it expensive.

I'm saddened by this decline in guest interaction with servers at WCC. For us, what made this dining venue so much fun was the way the servers interacted with the guests. I loved that they would give us a hard time for asking for ketchup, being on a cell phone, putting folks in 'jail' for various infractions, etc. This was our favorite venue to take guests who were 'first timers' because although there were no 'characters' - the servers spent time and energy on their guests - on a personal level. Fur characters can't really do that. Just another watering down the aspects of WDW which made it so magical. We probably won't go back to WCC and choose off property dining for less money and better food. I've never thought of a resort lobby as a place for quiet reflection so I'm not sure why after 20+ years this should be an issue now.
