DVC Allowing 100-Point Initial Purchases

General DVC News
For the last decade the Disney Vacation Club has had a minimum purchase threshold of 150-160 points for first-time buyers.  Individuals could become members by purchasing smaller contracts on the resale market.  But there are signs that Disney may now be willing to consider selling smaller contracts as well.

According to a report from a DVCNews reader, the Chicago-based Doorway to Dreams sales center is allowing first-time purchases of as little as 100 points at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas.  The offer was for 100 points at $96 each (that's $104 base price less $8 per point discount.)  No other incentives are available.  Points have a December Use Year with the first set available on 12/1/08.  The points are in Kidani Village and cannot be used until May 2009.

Our source, Rick, is the new owner of 100 points at Disney's Animal Kindom Villas, and was told that he is the first individual to take advantage of the offer.

UPDATE:  Since initially posting this story we have heard from other readers who have confirmed that the 100-point initial purchase is being offered at the Doorway to Dreams sales center and at this weekend's Disneyland event.   It remains to be seen whether or not this is a standing offer, or whether it will be available at the Walt Disney World sales center.
