What To Know as Moonlight Magic Registration Returns

Member Benefits and Perks

Registration will soon begin for Disney Vacation Club's exclusive Moonlight Magic events. Here are some things to know if you are hoping to attend.

DVC Moonlight Magic

It has been two years since Disney Vacation Club hosted a Moonlight Magic event.  Over that time, DVC has made some tweaks to the registration process. Whether this is your first time registering or first time in a while, here are some things you will want to know about the process:

What is Moonlight Magic?  It's basically Extra Magic Hours at a Disney theme park, except admission is free and it is only available to DVC members. Most attractions will be operating with limited wait times. Past events have featured unique character appearances, dance parties and complimentary refreshments.

What are the Moonlight Magic dates for 2022?   Announced dates include EPCOT on March 17 & 31, Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 24, June 16 & July 14 and Disney's Animal Kingdom on July 26, August 31 & September 28.

How long do the events last?   Typically three hours past the scheduled theme park closing. (e.g. when EPCOT closes to the public at 10:00pm, Moonlight Magic would run until 1:00am.)

Are all DVC members eligible to attend?   Only members who qualify for Membership Magic perks, and their travel companions.

Do I have to register in advance?   Yes. Registration is broken into two phases. First, those with confirmed hotel reservations on the night of the event will be given priority to register. Later, members without hotel reservations will have access to any remaining openings.

When does registration occur for each event?   Dates have only been announced for the EPCOT nights. Those with hotel reservations can register on February 23, while remaining availablity will be released to all other members on March 8, 2022.

How does the registration process work?   A unique web address is used to register for the events. Prospective attendees can visit the site shortly before registration opens at 11am eastern time. At 11am, all individuals waitiing will be randomly placed in a virtual queue to complete their registration. It may take an hour or so to complete the process, depending upon assigned place in the queue.

How do I get the link to register?   Those with eligible hotel stays will be sent an email at least 1 day before registration opens. The email will contain a link to the registration site. The link to register for the two EPCOT dates is:  http://disneyurl.com/DVCEPCOT22

What information do I need available in order to register?    Members should be prepared with their name and DVC membership ID. This data must be validated before a member will be allowed to register for Moonlight Magic during the early window.  Individual guest names are not needed.

Is there a limit to the number of guests I can bring to Moonlight Magic?   For those with hotel reservations, the limit is the greater of either member + four guests OR the party size listed on their hotel reservation. (e.g.  a two bedroom villa reserved with 9 guests on the reservation can register a party of 9 for Moonlight Magic.) For the second registration window open to all members, the limit is one member + four guests.

Do the events commonly fill-up?   Yes! Expect the slots for those with hotel reservations to be filled up within a  couple hours. The second registration window for all members will fill much faster.

If the events reach capacity during the first booking window for hotel guests, does that mean nothing will be offered during the second slot?   In the past, DVC has held back some capacity for the second booking window.

Is there a waitlist process if I am unable to secure a reservation?   No.

My hotel party changed after registering for Moonlight Magic. Will my Moonlight Magic reservation also be updated?   No. There is no way to update a Moonlight Magic party size after the event registration is completed.

Can I register for during the early window if my hotel reservation is made using non-qualifying resale points?   There has been conflicting information from DVC regarding this scenario. Since event registration is tied to a hotel booking, members may be blocked from registering if their hotel booking is made with non-qualified points. Anyone who is eligible for Membership Magic perks should be able to register during the second Moonlight Magic window.

My wife and I are both listed on the same membership. Can we each bring 4 people?   No. The limit is one member plus four additional guests. Co-owners may both attend, but they will be counted as 2 of the maximum 5 on the registration.

I'm the member but I don't really feel like attending. Can my family / guests attend without me?   The DVC member must be present to show ID and pick up credentials on the day of the event. In the past, this could be accomplished at DVC resort hotels. However, it is not known if that process will remain unchanged in 2022.

Can DVC point renters attend?   On the day of the event, the DVC Member must be present to show his/her DVC member card and photo ID. Therefore it is unlikely that point renters will be able to participate.

Can I attend multiple Moonlight Magic events?  DVC Members may register for events at multiple theme parks, however they can only attend once per perk. For instance, a single member could attend separate events at both EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. However, that same member cannot attend both the March 17 and March 31 events at EPCOT
