In May 2019, Disney sold 197,947 Disney Vacation Club points for the 11 DVC resorts located at Walt Disney World. Although May’s sales were almost 70,000 points less than the 267,280 points that were sold in April 2019, it still exceeded the an the 193,974 points sold in May 2018, as well as the average monthly sales for the prior six-month period (193,281 points) and 12-month period (182,600 points).

DVC Direct Sales - May 2019

After 16 months leading all DVC resorts in sales, in May Copper Creek fell to second place, supplanted by Disney’s Riviera Resort. The Riviera has moved into the top spot after only one full month of sales. It wasn’t until its fourth month that Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows passed the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and it took Copper Creek nine full months before it took the top spot away from the Polynesian.

Disney’s Riviera Resort — In its first full month of sales, Riviera recorded 586 deeds containing 97,988 points. Disney has now sold 157,234 Riviera points, about 2.3% of its 6.7 million total points.

It appears Disney is requiring a minimum purchase of 50 points for Members to add Riviera points to their existing DVC accounts and a minimum of 75 points for a new master contract. The Riviera is averaging 158.3 points per deed after two calendar months of sales, which is greater than the early per-point averages recorded by Grand Floridian (134.0 points), Polynesian (108.0 points), or Copper Creek (148.2 points).

Three more Fixed Week deeds were sold in May for Riviera, bringing to nine the number of Fixed Week deeds sold for DVC’s newest resort. All nine Fixed Week deeds are for stays during the last five weeks of the calendar year.

Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness LodgeCopper Creek’s streak of 16 consecutive months topping the 100,000 point mark came to an end in May as 75,019 points were sold for the resort. This is the lowest sales amount since 67,849 points were sold in December 2017. Disney has now sold 2,883,925 points for Copper Creek since sales began in March 2017.

Several weeks ago Disney announced that Copper Creek would be “sold out” by June 2019. As of May 31, 2019, Disney still had about 370,000 points that are unsold. But included in that total are points from hundreds, if not thousands, of deeds that are in the pipeline and will close within the next few weeks.

Two Fixed Week deeds were sold for Copper Creek in May. Twenty-five such deeds have been sold to date, 14 of which are for the last six weeks of the calendar year.

The sales data includes all 11 DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds.
