Disney Vacation Club owners are obligated to pay annual dues in assocation with their timeshare ownership.  Dues cover the operating costs of the resort (employees, park transportation, housekeeping, utilities, etc.) as well as property taxes and some allocation for long-term repairs and upgrades.

Following are the proposed figures for the 2019 calendar year:

Resort 2018 Dues 2019 Dues Increase

Vero Beach $8.5260 $9.4766 +11.15%

A cursory examination of the resort budgets suggests that most operating expense categories have been hit by higher costs. Line items including Administration & Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Transportation are all up. The increases are likely driven by higher employee compensation costs under new collective bargaining agreements. In September, members of the Service Trades Council Union approved an agreement which will take the $10 minimum hourly wage to $11 by December 2018, $12 by March 2019 and $13 by September 2019. Minimum pay will then increase to $14 in 2020 and $15 in 2021.

These increases will all directly impact DVC member costs. In the past, Disney Vacation Club exectives have stated that 75% of resort operating costs go to employee wages, benefits and taxes.

Budgets will be formally ratified by the Condo board at the 2018 annual meeting scheduled for Thursday, December 13, 2018.  DVCNews.com will be on-hand reporting live from the Condo Association meeting.
