Polynesian sales remain strong in May 2016

Financial News & Pricing

In May 2016, 165,929 Disney Vacation Club points were sold by Disney Vacation Development for 11 of the 13 DVC resorts (sales for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas and the Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort are not available). Although not as high as April 2016’s total of 191,803 points, May’s sale total is well above the average monthly sales amount for the last 12 months (124,655 points) and for the last six months (131,364 points).

Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is currently dominating the direct sales market. The resort accounted for 88.8% of the points sold in May 2016, which is the highest percentage that a single resort has contributed to the total monthly sales since sales started to be tracked in July 2010. One year ago, the Polynesian only accounted for 53.2% of the points sold by Disney Vacation Development in May 2015.

DVC Direct Sales

Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows — The 147,374 points sold in May 2016 was the second highest monthly total for the resort since sales began in January 2015. Over the last three months, the Polynesian has averaged 151,015 points in monthly sales. This is the best three-month run in sales that any resort — including the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa — has had since Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas averaged 165,676 points a month from May through July 2012.

The Polynesian has sold 37.0% of its 4,032,720 total points and it has about 2,462,000 points left to sell to the general public. No Guaranteed Week deeds were sold in May 2016, but one Guaranteed Week deed for a Standard View studio for week #4 was reacquired by Disney. So far, 88 Guaranteed Week deeds have been sold for the Polynesian: 12 Guaranteed Week deeds for the bungalows, 50 deeds for the Lake View studios and 26 for the Standard View studios.

Disney Vacation Development has declared 218 studios and 16 bungalows for the DVC inventory. There are still 142 studios and 4 bungalows that have not yet been declared. In terms of points, 62.88% of resort is now officially part of the Polynesian’s DVC inventory.

Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas — Sales data for Aulani for April and May 2016 is not yet available. In March 2016, 436 deeds and 58,854 points were sold for the resort, which is below the 69,592 points the resort has averaged since May 2014 when sales started to be tracked for the resort

Note that Disney recently announced that it was changing the name of the Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge to Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. In keeping with that name change, the sales data charts now show ‘BRV’ instead of ‘VWL’ for this DVC resort.

The sales data includes all nine DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds, and the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances.
