Monthly sales remain steady in October 2014

Financial News & Pricing

Direct sales of Disney Vacation Club points increased slightly in October 2014, climbing 5.2% over the previous month. A total of 135,583 points were sold, of which 70.5% were for the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa -- 95,577 points were sold in October 2014 for the Grand Floridian. Given that it is the only DVC resort located at Walt Disney World being actively marketed at this time, its not surprising that it accounted for the majority of Disney Vacation Club points sold in the month.

DVC Direct Sales October 2014

The Grand Floridian has now sold 70.51% of its 2.5 million points. Taking into account the 2% that Disney Vacation Development must retain for itself, there are 692,918 points remaining that can be sold to the general public. It would take just over 7 months for the resort to be completely sold out if sales were to continue at the same rate as in October.

On October 28, 2014, a milestone was reached as Disney Vacation Development declared the last 10 of its 100 vacation homes for the DVC inventory. Now that 100% of the resort has been declared, all of the Grand Floridian's villas are available to DVC Members to book using points.

Although the Grand Floridian is fully declared, only 30 of the resort's 36 Residential Units have been assigned a Use Year. Typically, Disney Vacation Development does not assign a Use Year to a Residential Unit until it begins to sell points from the Unit. Currently, April is the most common Use Year, accounting for 17.65% of the resort's total points, followed by December (14.87%), June (14.19%), and October (10.47%). The least common Use Years at the Grand Floridian are March (5.83%), September (6.76%), and February and August (9.54% each). 11.15% of the resort's points have yet to be used to support sales and have not yet been assigned a Use Year.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas -- Although it is officially considered to be "sold out", Disney Vacation Development continues to sell points for the Animal Kingdom Villas. In October 2014, 14,810 points were sold for this resort, slightly less than the 19,557 points that Animal Kingdom Villas has averaged in monthly sales since it was labeled as "sold out" in January 2014.

Disney Vacation Development has sold over 7.1 million of Animal Kingdom Villas' 7.4 million points. Since DVD must retain at least 2% of the resort's points for itself, there are about 130,188 points that can still be sold to the general public.

The sales data includes all eight DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel or for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds.
