Monthly Sales Update for July 2014

Financial News & Pricing

Sales of Disney Vacation Club points jumped 54.1% in July 2014 compared to the previous month. 205,975 points were sold, marking the first time since January 2014 that over 200,000 points were sold in a month.

Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa -- With 137,774 points sold in July 2014, the Grand Floridian had its second best month of sales, trailing only July 2013 when 226,439 points were sold during the initial sales period. The resort has now sold 60.77% of its 2.5 million points. Taking into account the 2% that Disney Vacation Development must retain for itself, there are 938,586 points remaining that can be sold to the general public. It would only take seven months for the Grand Floridian to be sold out in the unlikely event that sales were to continue at the same rate as in July.

DVC Direct Sales - July 2014

The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa are the only two Disney Vacation Club resorts that offer Fixed Week deeds in addition to traditional points. In July 2014, five Fixed Week deeds were sold, bringing to 232 the total number of Fixed Week deeds sold for the Grand Floridian. Fixed Week deeds account for only 5.3% of the points sold, well below the 35% cap that Disney Vacation Development stated would be the maximum that it might sell.

Disney Vacation Development has declared 79.56% of the Grand Floridian for the Disney Vacation Club inventory. This means that on any given Use Day DVC members can book no more than 79.56% of the resort using points. There are still 22 two-bedroom vacation homes that are undeclared at the Grand Floridian.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas -- Although it is no longer being actively marketed, Disney Vacation Development sold 27,004 points for Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas in July 2014. It also reacquired 6,938 points during the month due to foreclosures and exercising its Right of First Refusal on resale transactions. Including all of the points its reacquired over the years, Disney Vacation Development still has about 160,000 Animal Kingdom Villa points it can sell to the public.

The sales data includes all eight DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel or for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds.
