With construction work scheduled to begin later this year at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney Vacation Club is making some effort to minimize the impact on its members.
Disney Vacation Club representatives are personally contacting owners with late-2015 reservations at the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge to discuss the possibility of relocating. Members are being informed of the resort-wide renovations which will necessitate closing of the resort's quiet pool, beach, spa and other areas. Representatives then offer to try and secure alternative accommodations if the member is interested in relocating.
According to reports, owners who choose to be relocated are not charged the additional points if their new destination is more costly than the original Wilderness Lodge villa. However, alternative lodging is subject to availability, with openings bound to vary from night-to-night and for the various room sizes.
Renovations at Disney's Wilderness Lodge are scheduled to begin on October 26, 2015. The villa rooms themselves are not scheuled to receive any updates at this time. The resort's DVC accommodations were the recipient of a significant "hard goods" refurbishment in the spring of 2014 which featured new wall coverings, linens, installation of laminate flooring and the installation of a fold-down twin sleeper in all Deluxe Studio villas.
Permits suggest that renovations to the Wilderness Lodge may run into 2018. Construction of 26 waterfront bungalows or cabins--similar to the structures at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows--is expected. Additional rumors suggest that some of the resort's 700+ hotel rooms may be permanently converted to DVC villas.
