Polynesian plans seemingly confirm DVC rumors

Construction plans dated June 28, 2013 seemingly confirm many rumors tied to a Disney Vacation Club development at Disney's Polynesian Resort

General plans accompanying the permit request filed with the South Florida Water Management District bear out many of the rumors tied to this potential DVC location.  Most apparent are 14" and 18" concrete pylons surrounding what is now Sunset Pointe and the beach in front of the Tahaiti building at the Polynesian.  The pylons are arranged in a retangular formation, ideally suited for over-water bungalows reported by Tikimanpages.com and others.

The illustrations above and below have been highlighted to indicate the placement of three of the bungalows.

In all there are sufficient pylons to support twenty individual free standing buildings.

Also cited in the plans is the Tahiti building itself, frequently rumored to be earmarked for conversion from Polynesian hotel rooms to Disney Vacation Club villas.  This drawing does not contain any interior details which may reveal room sizes and layouts.

Note the presence of the square lagoon concrete pyles which extend along the shore, nearly the entire length of the Tahiti building.

Finally, the parking lot adjacent to the Rapa Nui building will be reconfigured and expanded to accommodate additional vehicles.

Note how the proposed lot layout in the diagram above differs from a current Google Maps image of the same lot.

Disney Vacation Club has not commented on any plans to construct timeshare villas at Disney's Polynesian Resort.  The twelfth DVC property--the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa--is currently under construction and is scheduled to open on October 23, 2013.
