Is there any information available regarding features of specific rooms at the BoardWalk Villas?

DVCNews.com has created a series of searchable databases listing very detailed information on most of the Disney Vacation Club resort guestrooms. Why is the Resort divided into two different halves?

Disney's BoardWalk Villas was the first Disney Vacation Club resort to have been built simultaneously with a Disney Deluxe Resort on the same property, namely the Boardwalk Inn.  When approaching the main resort drive, villa rooms are located to the left while inn rooms are on the right. 

What is the theme of this resort?

Disney's BoardWalk Villas is reminiscentof two resort areas located on the east coast, Atlantic City, NJand Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY.  These areas both still exist today, but “our”boardwalk is modeled on the resorts as they existed during the early 1900s.

What accommodations are there? How are the rooms set up?

Disney's BoardWalk Villas features Deluxe Studio, One-, Two- and Three Bedroom Grand VIllas.

What are the BoardWalk View, Garden / Pool View and Standard View room categories?

A Boardwalk View reservation guarantees guests a room overlooking the BoardWalk itself.  Epcot's Spaceship Earth, Crescent Lake and the Yacht / Beach Club resorts are also visible from most rooms. 

Preferred View provides a view of the quiet pool, the Luna Pool or the canal that leads to Disney's Hollywood Studios

Standard View rooms face either the entrance to the resort / front lawn / front driveway or a combination of the lawn / parking lot / canal to Disney's Hollywood Studios

Where is the bus stop?

Exit the lobby from the main entrance.  The path to the left leads to the bus stop. 

How many pools are there? Do they have whirlpool spas?

There are three adult pools, each with its own whirlpool spa. 

The main pool, called the Luna Park pool, has a slide that looks like a roller coaster on the outside. The slide empties into the pool through the mouth of a clown painted onto the slide. 

There is a separate kiddie area in the Luna Park pool area.

There are two quiet pools, one on the Villas side of the resort and the other on the Inn side. Lifeguards are not present at either of the quiet pools

The Pool hours may vary depending on time of the year.  Generally they are open from 10AM to 10PM. 

Can I rent a bicycle at the BoardWalk?

Standard single-rider bicycles are available to rent at the Community Hall. 

On the BoardWalk just outside the resort guests can rent surrey bikes which accommodate up to 6 people. 

Where can I find adult beverages at BWV?

The Belle VueLounge, located on the Inn side of Boardwalk,is open in the afternoon until late into the evening. 

Where is the health club? Is there a fee?

The health club is located on the BoardWalk level (first floor) opposite the elevators.  A wide variety of workout equipment is provided. Use of the gym equipment is complimentary to all resort guests.

Limited spa services are also offered with some discounted for Disney Vacation Club members. 

Where are the laundry facilities for Deluxe Studio guests?

The guest lanudry is located on the first floor opposite the elevators. 

Although the machines may have coin slots, payment is not necessary.  Use of laundry facilities is free to Disney Vacation Club members.  

Guests must provide their own detergent.  Single-load boxes are available for purchase in the laundry room.

Where can I get supplies and groceries?

The Screen Door--located on the BoardWalk level--offers a selection of groceries and other general supplies. 

Can I see Fireworks from the BoardWalk?
Boardwalk View villas have a good view of Epcot's Illuminations fireworks presentation--the higher up, the better the view.  Guests on the higest floors may be able to see the Magic Kingdomfireworks as well.

Standard view rooms that face the parking lot can see Illuminations and some can see the high fireworks from Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Most Standard View rooms along the front lawn have an obscured view of the high Illuminations fireworks.

Excellent views of Illuminations can also be found on the bridge just past the ESPN Club. Obscured views of Illuminations can be found all along the BoardWalk.  

Where can I get something to eat?

Are there any Hidden Mickeys at the BoardWalk?
  • There is a miniature carousel in the lobby. The pinto horse has a mickey head on its rump.
  • There is a miniature roller coaster in the lobby.  Look for Mickeys head on the side of the coaster.
  • The large rugs outside of the elevators have the footprints as well as the hats of the fab four (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald).
  • The center of a number of the flowers on carpet in the hallways is a mickey head.
  • The lamps in the living room portion of the 1 BRs have Mickey stenciled onto the lamp shades.
  • The curtains in the studios have Mickey shaped balloons on them.
How do I get to the theme parks from the BoardWalk?

Magic Kingdom:  Bus, which will take 20-30 minutes depending on the route used. Buses are shared with Swan/Dolphin and occasionally with the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.  Guests with a car may choose to drive to the Transportation and Ticket Center and take the monorail or ferry to the Magic Kingdom.

Epcot:  10 minute walk or boat ride.  Catch the boat on the BoardWalk just outside the resort. 

Disney's Hollywood Studios:  15 minute walk or ~20 minute boat ride.  TIP:  For a shorter return trip, exit the boat at Swan/Dolphin and follow the signs to BoardWalk.

Disney's Animal Kingom:   Bus, which will take 20-30 minute.  Buses are shared with Swan/Dolphin and occasionally with the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts

Any other tips for making a BoardWalk stay more enjoyable?
One word: Staircases!!  The BoardWalk Villas features only one bank of elevators.  Using stairwells located throughout the villa wing can save a great deal of time when walking to the parking lot, bus stop and theme parks. 

The spa at the Luna Park Pool is almost always crowded.  However the spa at the nearby quiet pool is often emptyespecially in the evening.

There is a mail slot to send letters or postcards in the BoardWalk lobby right next to the Bell Services stand.

Each night there is FREE entertainment on the BoardWalk.  Examples include jugglers, clowns, musicians, magicians and more, generally starting about 8 and ending about 10, but this will vary seasonally. 

Other BoardWalk services (fee) include:

  • Hair Wrapping
  • Face Painting
  • Caricatures
  • Take-Your-Own Photo Booths
  • Midway Games
  • Pin Cart

Operating hours for the above services vary.

The Belle Vue Lounge offers a selection of pastries until about 11 AM. 

What is the Community Hall and where is it located?

The Community Hall is a family-friendly activity center llocated next to the quiet pool on the Villas side of the resort.  Activities offered include video games, air hockey, ping pong and some board games, all free of charge for Disney Vacation Club members. 

Daily activities are planned for children.  Schedules are typically posted by the Community Hall front door and included in guest check-in packets.  Some activities required a nominal fee. 

Disney Vacation Club members can borrow DVDs at no charge.

Sports equipment (croquet, tennis) is also available for resort use.

Where are the Trash/Recycling rooms?

Numerous trash / recycling rooms are available on each floor of the resort.  Follow signs posted in the resort hallways.
