More Doubts Raised Regarding DVC at CR

Bay Lake Tower

Citing a “pretty reliable source” DVC resale broker Shontell Crawford, appearing on Lou Mongello’s The WDW Radio Show podcast, indicated that the forthcoming construction at the Disney’s Contemporary Resort will not be DVC villas.  Despite the concept art that has been posted frequently on the Internet and rampant rumors on Disney message boards, the unnamed source insists that any construction project slated for the site of the North Garden Wing will not be a Disney Vacation Club development.

This is not the first time that doubts have been raised regarding the future of this now undeveloped site just outside of the Magic Kingdom’s gates.  Even the documents pulled from public information websites have referred to a forthcoming development as “Contemporary Resort Suites” rather than using DVC’s familiar “villas” moniker.

With demolition finally completed at the former site of the North Garden Wing, the next few months should be very revealing in terms of the future of that site.

Other information discussed in the podcast includes:

  • ·         According to the same unnamed source, the next DVC resort announced will not be at Walt Disney World.  While Shontell did not cite a specific location, the inference was that the next resort would be at a popular timeshare destination rather than a Disney-centric location such as Anaheim.
  • ·         During the Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Sunset Safari, a Cast Member indicated that while DVC members would have full access to the facilities at the Lodge (a.k.a. Jambo House), access to the amenities at the new Kidani Village building would be limited to DVC members only.

Shontell Crawford is a former Walt Disney World Cast Member and the owner of DVC by Resale, a company which assists folks with buying and selling DVC contracts on the secondary market.
