That is good they are considering the hassle for guests but I wonder what someone will think after their trip. I hope everything goes well

Personally I think it's great that DVC is being so proactive in this case. In years past there have been instances where members have been inconvenienced by things outside of DVC control. For the most part the attitude has been "sorry but you'll have to deal with it." If ANY compensation was offered, it was very modest...and inconsistent. That often lead to owners negotiating their own compensation packages, and obvious attempts at one-upmanship as owners reported their successes on various web sites.
I know everyone wants their vacations to be picture-perfect but since that's not achievable here, a points refund of 25-35% seems very reasonable to me.

This is a good thing, but if you already booked airfare, you might get screwed out of that piece of your travel.
Wonder if DVC could offer a choice of refunded points, or a ressie at a different resort and access to the Aulani pool/beaches/restaurants?
On a side note, we ran into construction at HHI one year and we got upgraded to a 2-bdrm. It was a complete, and very welcome surprise.

I'll be interested to see how it works out as most of our vacation at Aulani and our WDW trip in November are based on banked points. It's great to get the points back but I'd hate to lose them in January. Hopefully the DVC will be lenient and allow us to carry these points over into 2013.

I think it is great that DVC is doing the partial refunds but was also wondering about how it would work with banking the refund, particularly if you are already past your normal deadline. Having done a borrow falls into the same sort of scenario; please let us know what happens denlo.
