Updated: Sunrise Safari to end

Animal Kingdom Villas

A unique safari experience available only to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge club level guests and Disney Vacation Club members will soon end its run.

Website MousePlanet.com reports that the Sunrise Safari will end its run on Sunday, October 19 2014.

The safari experience allowed select guests to take a more leisurely tour of Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom followed by a buffet breakfast at Pizzafari restaurant.  The 2-3 hour experience ran every Sunday and Thursday, and was priced at $75 per adult and $40 per child.

Disney Vacation Club members gained access to the safari back in April 2014 after years as an exclusive concierge hotel guest perk.

In May, DVCNews.com published a look at the Sunrise Safari experience.

The October 19 closure comes approximately 2 months before a rumored mid-December end date for the tour.  At this time there is no word on whether Disney plans to introduce a similar offering to replace the Sunrise Safari.

UPDATE:  MousePlanet has revised its report, indicating that only Disney Vacation Club member access to the safari will end on October 19.  Concierge guests will still be able to book the Sunrise Safari until late-December.  All existing reservations will be honored.
