DVCNews Debates: Next resort

Here is a fun topic to revisit periodically as the rumor mill churns in different directions.

With Disney's Grand Floridian Resort already announced as the home of the twelfth Disney Vacation Club property, where will number thirteen be located?

DVCNews Debates: Member treatment

One of the knocks against the Disney Vacation Club timeshare concept is the idea that Disney no longer needs to bend over backward for DVC members.  There are literally hundreds-of-thousands of owners who are virtually guaranteed to return to the Disney parks annually, regardless of whether they encounter a friendly staff, well maintained room or reasonable prices.  Many policies for DVC members are openly different than those applied to cash guests:  later check-in time, no daily housekeeping, no complimentary upgrades, etc.

DVCNews Debates: Best perk

Perks and discounts offered to Disney Vacation Club members may not be as generous as some folks wish but there are some gems hidden amongst the list.  There are obvious candidates for "best perk" like the Walt Disney World annual pass discount.  But others are also worthy of mention including pool hopping, 10% off all Disneyland dining and the Tables in Wonderland card.

DVCNews Debates: Not enough points

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

To most members there is no such thing as "having enough points."   But personal finances have a way of interfering with dream vacation scenarios.

Fortunately Disney Vacation Club has several avenues available for members who do not own enough points for a desired stay.  Points can be borrowed from the next Use Year or banked from a prior year with proper planning.  DVC allows owners to buy up to 24 one-time-use points per year.  Points can even be transferred or "rented" from another DVC owner.  And while it may not be ideal, members can often book a smaller room, shorter trip or cheaper view in order to stretch points further.
