Sell One, Buy another

My wife and I have considered selling our current points to buy at a different resort. Having a family of five with two working parents and kids who are at the age they can't miss school, we have found it challenging to get a two bedroom at a resort with only 7 month lead. We love staying at AKV but bought with the intentions of staying in various resorts.

Probably not. We already own at our favorite DVC resort. In our pre-DVC days, the Polynesian was our resort of choice but even if they were to build a DVC component in that location, I think we would stand pat and take our chances with the 7-month window.

Ditto to the above. For a long time I thought I'd sell some BWV pts if they open a Poly DVC, my favorite resort pre-DVC ownership. But the cost to buy in at the Poly will probably be too high for me. Also, I really love BWV now. So I will more than likely stay at BWV the majortiy of the time and take my chances with the seven month window on occasion if and when a Poly DVC opens up.

We have done this. We used to own AKL points along with our SSR points. When VGC came along, we decided to sell AKL and purchase an equal amount of Points at VGC. We did this luckily before the market really tanked and got a decent price for them. We have found that due to the size of AKL, we never have trouble getting in past the 7 month mark, we knew this would not be the case with VGC. We are glad we did it.

Since the Polynesian is one of my favorite resorts, I may add points on there, but I would not give up my ownership at Old Key West. My family has been staying there since it opened in 1991 and we love it so it has sentimental attachment as well. However, adding on at Polynesian may be too tempting to resist! Hehe
