Disney snags dozens of new DVC-related websites

Internet domain names are the plain text addresses used to reach a website.  Disney.com, DisneyVacationClub.com, DVCNews.com are all unique Internet domains.  

Registering a domain name also happens to be a relatively cheap venture, costing just a few dollars per year for each unique address.  As such, it's not uncommon for large companies to register dozens or hundreds of addresses.  While they may not actively use all of the addresses, registering it secures ownership and helps companies protect their intellectual property.  After all, Disney may not want anyone else publishing a website at the address DisneyVacationClubCopperCreek.com, which is why they scooped it up for themselves.

A random sampling suggests that none of these domains are currently in active use.  Many may never be used, or they could simply redirect to the main Disney Vacation Club marketing website.  But as long as Disney continues to renew the domain registration, these websites--and many more--are reserved for any future use.
