Polynesian is now 100% declared for the DVC inventory

Financial News & Pricing

Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows added the last of its accommodations to the Disney Vacation Club timeshare program, further signaling that the resort will soon sell the last of its available points.

Poly Bungalows

On August 1, 2017, Disney Vacation Development declared five Residential Units containing four bungalows and 16 studios for the DVC inventory at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Now, all 20 bungalows and 360 studios at the Polynesian are available for DVC member to book using points. The declaration was filed with the Orange County Comptroller on August 8, 2017.

This declaration indicates that the Polynesian is getting close to being “sold out.” Through August 4, 2017, Disney had sold 3,343,121, or 82.9% of the Polynesian’s 4,032,720 total points. By regulation, Disney must retain a minimum of 2% of the resort’s points, meaning that it had about 608,000 points it could sell to the general public at that time. In reality, the number of points Disney has available to sell is quite less because there are hundreds of pending sales awaiting final closure.

It is quite likely that Disney will announce that the Polynesian is “sold out” within the next two or three months. Although a resort is “sold out”, there are usually some points that can still be purchased from Disney. However, in the past Disney has discontinued offering any discounts on “sold out” resorts and its supply of points in some Use Years can be extremely limited.

Poly Use Year

Disney has assigned Use Years to 81 of the Polynesian’s 87 Residential Units. As Disney draws points from the six unused Residential Units to support sales they, too, will be assigned one of the eight Use Years.

December is the most common Use Year at the Polynesian, accounting for 26.7% of the Polynesian’s total points. The least common Use Year is March, accounting for only 6.5% of the resort’s points. The chart above shows the Polynesian’s Use Year distribution through August 7, 2017.
