If this month’s article title sounds a lot like last month’s title, that's because it is.
Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
Direct sales of Disney Vacation Club points remained steady in October 2016 with a volume totaling 142,664 points, very close to the 140,068 points averaged over the previous 12 month period. These point totals exclude direct sales for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas and the Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort.
In October, sales fell 8.2% compared to September 2016. But direct sales tend to fluctuate from month to month, which can make month-to-month comparisons misleading. In the 75 months we have tracked the data, sales have risen or fallen over 20% 36 times compared to the previous month. Thus, it is important to view DVC point sales over an extended period.
October 2016 sales were noticably stronger early in the month but tailed-off during the latter weeks, possibly due to the impact of Hurricane Matthew on the central Florida area.
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows — In October 2016, 119,024 points were sold for the Polynesian. Although this represents a decline of 10.8% compared to the previous month, October’s sales is still comparable to the 117,135 points that the resort has averaged over the previous 12 months.
The Polynesian has sold 2,142,357 points, or 53.1% of which its 4,032,720 total points. Based on its sales in 2016, it will take about 14 months, or until December 2017, before the Polynesian is sold out.
On October 2016, Disney Vacation Development declared 46 more studios for the DVC inventory. In terms of points, 2,989,488 points (74.1%) are now officially part of the Polynesian’s DVC inventory. There are still 96 studios and four bungalows that have yet to be declared and are under the control of Disney Vacation Development.
No Guaranteed Week deeds were sold for the Polynesian in October 2016. So far, 89 Guaranteed Week deeds have been sold for the resort, but only two have been sold in the last five months. About half of the Guaranteed Week deeds - 45 - are for the last five weeks of the year.
Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas — Aulani’s sales data for October 2016 is not yet available. However, in September 2016 Disney moved a total of 41,029 points.
Aulani sales have been relatively slow the past several months. In 2015, the resort averaged 72,505 points a month, but in 2016 it has averaged only 48,402 points a month in sales.
The sales data includes all nine DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds, and the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances.

The 119,024 points sold in October 2016 was the third lowest monthly total for PVB sales in 2016. However, it would have qualified as the highest monthly total in 2015. The highest monthly sales total in all of 2015 for PVB was only 107,067 points in June 2015. Remember, Disney didn't start offering incentives on PVB purchases until February 2016. I think this underscores the importance of sales incentives -- no matter how large or small -- in helping to drive sales.
