Polynesian sales reach new high in April 2016

In April 2016, direct sales of Disney Vacation Club points had its best month in over a year.

Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows sold 169,377 points in April, by far the most number of points it has sold in a month since sales for the resort began in January 2015.

Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows — The 169,377 points sold in April 2016 for the Polynesian represents a high point in sales for the resort. DVC Direct Sales - April 2016

The Polynesian has now sold 33.3% of its 4,032,720 total points. Given the recent surge in sales, its difficult to predict when the resort may sell out. Based on its average monthly sales since January 2015, in would take about 30 months, or until October 2018, before the resort is sold out. However, in the unlikely event that sales continued at April’s inflated rate, it would take less than 16 months, or until August 2017, before the resort would be sold out.

Two Guaranteed Week deeds were sold in April 2016, bring to 88 the number of Guaranteed Week deeds sold for the Polynesian. So far, 12 Guaranteed Week deeds have been sold for the bungalows, 50 for the Lake View studios, and 26 for the Standard View studios.

Disney Vacation Development has declared 218 studios and 16 bungalows for the DVC inventory. There are still 142 studios and 4 bungalows that have not yet been declared. In terms of points, 62.88% of resort is now officially part of the Polynesian’s DVC inventory.

Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas — Sales data for Aulani for March and April 2016 is not yet available. In February 2016, 55,360 points were sold for the resort, which is below the 70,080 points the resort has averaged since May 2014 when sales started to be tracked for the resort

The sales data includes all nine DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds, and the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances.

It would be interesting to know when the current DVC member discount for PVB started to see if this might have improved sales. At a savings of over $13/point with a purchase of as few as 150 points, it is tempting.

These sales still including carryover from the 25th anniversary incentives, which were even better... 10 bonus points w/ 100 points purchase = 100x$168=$16,800/110=$153/pt -- $15/pt savings.

Observations:
  • Direct DVC Deeds Sold trend line remains flat.
  • Direct DVC Points Sold trend line is down slightly
  • Polynesian continues to dominate overall sales

In the last couple of months, PVB sales have not only increased substantially, but the average number of points per PVB deed has also increased significantly. For the first 14 months of its sales, the average PVB deed had 123.9 points. In April 2016, the average deed size increased to 135.9 points. DVD is still selling a number of 50 point deeds, but there are many more PVB deeds in excess of 150 points.

The surge in PVB sales is continuing here in May. Through May 18, PVB is on pace to exceed 150,000 points for the month.

Wow, interesting info, Wil.

I wonder if the return of discounts has truly made that much of a difference or if there are other factors at work.
