I think Jambo standard views are all pool views. How about Kidani? Any parking lot views? If so, anyone have one and how was it? And what recommendations would you make regarding requests? High floor? Second floor?

Does that mean you are booking a Kidani standard view, Dorothy?

As to the views for those rooms, you can get a pool, parking lot view/check in area view. If you look at the Kidani Village map http://dvcnews.com/index.php/resorts.../maps-a-photos you see that the standard views are all located on the outer edge of the letter E, starting with the pool area to the lobby and around towards Jambo House. You could request a pool view or a room near the bus stop. A lot of those standard views are right near the covered walkway to the bus stop.

As far as I know no one has taken the time to figure out the exact view for each villa at Kidani. And I not sure I'd even know where to begin to figure it out.

I'm thinking of it, Denise. As I said on the Resort Availability board, my first choice is/was a value studio. But I've never stayed at Kidani, and the thought of trying it is getting more and more appealing.

Okay, well, this one is right up my alley : )

I stayed for 10 days at Kidani in a SV 1BR. I did not ask for anything special at all. We were given a ground floor room very close to the lobby. Our view was not bad to look at particularly. They managed to put foliage outside the windows, so it wasn't a bad view - though many "view sensitive" folks : ) may not agree.

The proximity to everything was amazing, of course. Especially with two little ones that have parents with bad backs : ). They often fall asleep on the bus, and it wasn't far to walk carrying them. So, for us, that was handy. Otherwise, generally I do not mind a walk to the lobby.

However, as you may know from experience (or reading), these views near the front of any hotel have quite a bit of extra noise. The buses and taxis (esp. idling buses and various vehicles backing up and beeping) are darn near to around the clock. And I mean aROUND the clock. Without a doubt, this was a sleep disturbance for many, many nights and sometimes several times per night. Although some adjustment took place and a few nights we slept through it.

It all depends on how you would "react" to these facts and how it would affect you. Maybe the short walk would be best for you. Maybe the noise won't disturb. Maybe a higher floor will have less noise but a worse view to the front (without the foliage blocking the blacktop). But this was our experience.

The points opportunity was tempting and allowed for a long trip. I would not "risk" it again myself with a SV anywhere, since it went far enough to "disturb" my enjoyment. But, of course, we are all different.

    I hope this helps!

This was most helpful. What it convinced me to do is to make NO requests. Then I can decide what requests to make next time, based on how the area I get is. I did something similar when Jambo first opened. I wanted to compare the value studio, standard view, and savannah view so rather than make any requests, I just took my chances and then formed my own opinions as to which one I like best and why. So I'm just going to take whatever Kidani standard view I get, and then decide what's "best" for me. Maybe my idea wouldn't work for everyone, but it's a solo trip (so no one to complain about the view) and it's WDW, so how bad can it be?

That sounds like a great idea. I do the same with every resort. I never request anything until I know what works for me. I hadn't realized this was a solo trip. I don't think I would hesitate at all with a solo trip myself either. THEN the points savings would always be worth it for me. And ABSOLUTELY it's WDW, so how bad can it be?

    LOL Have a GREAT trip!!!

Can anyone help me with a question?
Im staying at Jambo house in three weeks. A Savannah view studio. Where does that put me? I know that DVC in Jambo is 5th and 6th floors only but what else should I expect? Should I request a certain area? Any suggestions? This is our first stay on points and I'm overly anxious!!!

Here's a map that Parks2Go created breaking out the 5 floor at Jambo House showing each room type. http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-akv/floor5.php Pretty much any room that is located on the Ostrich Trail (value rooms), Giraffe Trail and the rooms surrounding Uzima Pool are NOT Savanna Rooms. Most of all of the others along the other trails are savanna rooms. There rooms here and there that view is not very good so they are standard view rooms. Many members ask for an Arusha Savanna view. I haven't stayed in a Savanna view at Jambo House so I can't give more advise.

The one time I was in a savannah view studio, I walked "to Haycks and back" (as my grandmotherr used to say) to get to the elevator. Definitely, "close to elevator"

We stayed in Savannah view Studio at Jambo. The walk to the lobby was long however there's an elevator from the pool area (kinda outside of Mara) that cut our walk in half for the pool, Mara, Boma and Jiko. We didn't mind the walk because the views along the hallway were worth the walk too.
