On February 15, 2012, we booked our first stay at Aulani using our DVC points. Yesterday, we received a nice "Aloha and Mahalo from Aulani" brochure in the mail. It showed our reservation confirmation number, the dates of our stay, and the type of accommodation we had booked. The colorful brochure has 26 pages with many photos, and has lots of helpful information about the Aulani resort, including descriptions of the restaurants, bars, pools, activities at the resort, spa services, and excursions. The brochure has a map of the resort and it shows internet links that can be used to get more information about the services and amenities offered at Aulani.

Overall, the Aloha and Mahalo brochure is a nice perk. Its functional because its a written confirmation of our reservation (we received an email confirmation within an hour of booking the trip), and its useful because it explains many of the features that will be available to us while at Aulani. For instance, we didn't realize there is an adult pool at Aulani.

I wonder how long Disney will mail out Aloha and Mahalo brochures to guests. Maybe it will be just for the first year . . . or while supplies last? In any event, its a nice gesture.

Sure would be nice if Disney did something similar for our upcoming stay at SSR in April!

That sounds both nice and expensive! I think it is a great idea for first timers and for those who are doing it as a trip of their lifetime. The more I read about Aulani, the more I believe it will be an enormous boon for Hawaii. Hawaii fanatics that have visited Aulani all love it and think it is the best place they've stayed. I know DVC had some issues with Aulani in the beginning, but I think overall they have made a very good choice with how they decided to theme the resort.
