We are headed to BLT (2 BR Villa - our home base 1st time there!) in April with our son... quickly approaching - getting psyched. We're using Dream Tours for the Magic Kingdom one day (expensive but what a way to get around the park on busy days!!!). Booked dinner at the Wave one night and one night we will do Mickey's Backyard BBQ - neither of which we've done. Our son is getting excited - the custom maps just arrived today.

I also just booked a 1 BR Villa at Boardwalk for Sept 30 (12 year wedding anniversary!) thru Oct 4th. We're going without our son to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival and enjoy some of the things we haven't been able to do with a 5 year old in tow ;-) It is kind of annoying that I couldn't book online I guess because my use year is October so starting the trip in September threw a wrench on the works. DVC Member Service was able to get everything done properly but kinda weird that you can't book that online... Was I doing something wrong?

Funny enough we were at the Van Halen concert in NYC at MSG this past Tuesday night and there was a gentleman and his son right next to us who we struck up a conversation with - DVC Member! Not sure he's on DVC News, but wouldn't be surprised. Figured I'd mention it in case he sees it as we I didn't get his name. Great concert and great conversation!

I'll also post some pics when I get back... in the meantime we arrived yesterday and all was well. Room in pretty good shape. Woke up this morning to the AC unit leaking as there is water in the hallway to the 2nd Bedroom as well as the small storage closet next to the unit. UGH. Maintenance is supposedly on their way - I'm on hold checking on their status. I turned off the AC but it's still running and water is getting worse - ACK! I guess I could just leave as they are going to let themselves in? Would much rather not have to wait in the room as the rest of the family is down on the waterslide ;-)

I know what you mean about "getting psyched" (or is it getting MORE psyched). DH and I are also going in April and October, but later in October. When in April are you going to be there? That's when we're celebrating our anniversary-3 more weeks!

I have had those kinds of problems. No fun : (

But go enjoy your family - they will take care of it. That's my thought...

Thanks - I did. They took care of it. Carpet still a bit damp but extra towels are making it walkable without soaking your socks ;-)

While everything is great so far despite our AC issue I can comment on two things...

1- There should be more umbrellas at the BLT pool. Not nearly enough shade... Melanoma anyone?

2 - Wouldn't it be handy to have either a small hand vac or one of those non-powered rolling sweepers in the DVC rooms?

Question for BLT experts - What is the deal with the TopoftheWorld bar? We are on the 16th floor which requires key card access in the elevators... Why? I was told that only 16th floor keys are able to get to 16... But any DVC member staying on any floor at BLT is allowed in the bar? How would I get up there if I were staying on the 5th floor as opposed to 16? By the way... Our keys barely let us onto 16, the elevators are very temperamental but I'm told all the keys, even staff members act funny with the 16th floor...

Been there, done that- There is a desk in the BLT lobby; you show the CM's there your room key and then they escort you to an elevator, swipe the card & press 16 for you then they walk back to their desk & you ride up.

AH Gotcha. So when there is no doorman late at night can be quite annoying if you want to sneak upstairs for a drink ;-) What floor are the Grand Villas officially on? 15 or 16?

I think the desk is staffed the enire time TotW is open. I believe the main entrance doors for the GVs are on floors 14 & 15; all are 2 stories and some of BLT is only 15 stories tall, therefore the 2nd floors of the GVs are always on the top of the tower, floor 15 or 16.

I had the same problem getting my keycard to work when I stayed on the 16th floor in March. It would really only work in 1 of the 3 elevators. Most of the time we got off on 15 and walked up 1 flight.
