Davy Jones of the Monkees Passed Away – 02-29-2012,12:03 PM
IMDB.com is reporting that Davy Jones, a member of the 1960's group the Monkees, died today of a heart attack. He was 66.
Davy Jones has appeared frequently at several Disney festivals. He was scheduled to appear in one of the Flower Power concerts at this year's Flower and Garden Festival on May 18-20, 2012.
We were on the Grand Princess in January and Davy Jones, Paul Revere and the Raiders, the Buckinghams, and others were performing as part of a "Concerts at Sea" program. We didn't sign up for the concerts (they were $125/pp) and we never ran into Davy Jones on board the ship. But someone who saw his show told us one of his jokes. Davy's show was just a few days after the Costa ship ran aground in Italy. He said that in response to the accident, Costa was implementing a new policy on their ships: All drinks will be served on the rocks.
Rest in peace, Daydream believer!
I'm a Believer too. RIP Davey!--Denise
I just saw on the Disney Parks blog that people had suggested Disney get another Monkee to replace Davey Jones for the Flower Power concert. Well guess what they did. http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blo...+Parks+Blog%29
I think it will be a fitting tribute to Davey Jones and his Last Trip to Clarksville.--Denise
