After more than eight years of sales, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa has been added to the list of Disney Vacation Club's "sold out" properties. **

Its sort of ironic that SSR is officially considered to be sold out. However, its also the DVC resort for which the most number of Vacation Club points have been sold so far this calendar month. Rather than using the term "sold out", I prefer to use the phrase "no longer actively being marketed by DVD."

It will be interesting to see how sales progress for AKV. As of February 14, 2012, 74.96% of the resort has been declared for the DVC inventory and 65.79% has been sold to the general public. Based on my data, DVD still has over 2.5 million points to sell at AKV. Until sales begin for the Villas at Grand Floridian, AKV will be the only resort available for prospective buyers who want a WDW resort.

That seems convenient- Perhaps setting up a big push before another resort begins after both BLT & VGC began and sold out while AKV remains active?

I wonder what the impact will be on sales at WDW, with effectively only on resort to sell/market. (Assuming the presumption of a limited promotion of Bay Lake Tower.) When I first investigated DVC in 2003 SSR was the only option, or at least the only one communicated to me by DVC. Since AKV opened there has always been at least two options since about Jan 2008. (Did I get that right?) I wonder if it will be more challenging to close the deal with only one "model", "size", or whatever analogy works best.

I ended up passing on SSR back then because I thought it was too far from the parks. With BCV, BWV, & VWL being my benchmark. Now that I know better, if I knew to ask, or was offered BCV, which I think there were still "new" contracts available I might have bought. Having a variety of products and price points is very instrumental to the art of selling.
