Okay HHI experts (and you know who you are Dot & Tom ) we want great marsh views near the pool. Dot loves her view from 12, but that's farther than we want to be from the pool. We loved our view from 18 last Jan but would like to try another building. Right now we are thinking about 22, 27 or 29. Looking at Google Earth, I'm worried about trees blocking our views. We will be in a 1 bdrm if that makes a difference view wise. Anybody with any first hand knowledge of those building ?

Ken, isn't the problem that there are so few 1 brs at HHI and they are concentrated near the main area?

I could be completely wrong about that, having only been there twice. But I thought one of the issues with getting "out" buildings is the need to book a 2 bedroom.

Mostly, I'm just rambling here to give your post a bump!

If you get a 1bdrm outside of the Bldgs 11 or 12, they are going to be on the first floor. The upper floors are all 2 bdrms and/or grand villas.

Bldg 18 has 1bdrms that have a nice view of the marsh. And as long as your "this side" of the boardwalk, you'll feel like your close to the pool.

Yeah, I know, in January when you get out of the hot tub you want a quick dash to your room. 18 isn't too bad.

I think the issue you're refering too is Studios. We've been in 3 studios, everytime at the Lodge, never an out building.

    And thanks for the bump.

Good to know, because I think being closer to the ground allows us to look 'under" the tree branches, so to speak, and not have a full blown tree view like the 2nd floor folks might have.

Exactly. You get the tree trunk, not the canopy.

Here's my second floor view from bldg 12:

and my first floor view from bldg 18:

What I like about HHI "Ground floor" is that it's actually 2nd floor height. The resort is well prepared for flood waters.

Tom, that second pic....is it from Rm 1812 ? Whatever that wooden box like structure is, we had it in our view at 1812.

Yup, 1812. And, no, after 20+ trips I still don't know what those 'boxes' are for.

Those boxes had me wondering, too, because there was one below us in building #12 last week. The CM at the front desk wasn't sure but she thought maybe they had to do with underground water pipes or utility stuff. And yes, we've also were in #1812 once, but Tom's picture is so much nicer than any of ours. We really enjoyed it, except that we did wish we didn't have anyone above us. Every building that has one of the studios also has one of the 1 BRs. There are 21 of each, 16 of which are in buildings 11 & 12, then one each in buildings 16, 18, 19, 28, and 30 (I think those are the numbers). And like Tom said, all the ones in "outer" buildings are on the first floor.
