If so, it's about time. Prices and incentives have been all but stagnant for 4-5 months. According to "wdrl's" sales numbers, buyers do seem to be responding to Saratoga Springs at $99 per point. But that option will be off the table shortly due to the waning supply of SSR points. Time for DVC to mix things up a bit and generate some buzz for AKV and Aulani.

Price Changes Coming? –
11-07-2011,12:01 PM
Recently heard from a guide that prices are set to change on November 15, does anyone have any further information about that? I also heard that there might be some sort of sale or incentive event at the end of this month. This guide didn't elaborate, leaving me curious...

I agree with TimK. It's about time. Thanks for the news disneyfanatic, I hope it's announced soon.

Wow. I hope this is true. Been itching to add points. They did have the "Black Friday" event/sale last year at about the same time. THAT was decent but you had to travel to a Doorway to Dreams in NYC or Chicago. Hopefully new incentives will be significant. I know it's probably stupid but DH would much rather add on direct than with resale. Instant gratification you know.

[QUOTE=bubster;121520]. . . . They did have the "Black Friday" event/sale last year at about the same time. THAT was decent but you had to travel to a Doorway to Dreams in NYC or Chicago.. . . .
I realize that a large number of DVC members live near either Chicago or NYC but what about everybody else? I find those kind of offers insulting.--Denise

[QUOTE=denlo;121528]Isn't that the idea behind Black Friday (or any sale), though? If the closest Nordstrom's is 3 hours from me, I have to drive 3 hours to shop. Other big chains (Fry's Electronics comes immediately to mind) don't have a location within 500 miles of my home.
A DVC purchase is a little more substantial than getting a great price on a new flat panel TV. Still, I've always viewed sales pretty much the same: it's a way to increase awareness and foot traffic at the store. No matter what business you're in, it's not practical to make every customer eligible for every special.

[QUOTE=TimK;121532]But aren't we talking about something more akin to a real estate transaction versus buying a television? With the way the DVC is doing business you don't know where to go to get the best direct buy price. It's all hush, hush until a DVC member posts it some website. And sometimes the salesperson or guide tells you if you purchase through them you're getting the best rate. But are you? There's really no way to check, because even the amounts posted by other members on websites are just allegations not the official word from the DVC. It's very frustrating and to me another reason to buy resale versus buying direct from Disney.

[QUOTE=denlo;121533]I'd say that a better analogy--not perfect but better--is a car purchase. Take haggling out of the equation and you've still got different dealerships offering different bottom line prices. Incentives are constantly changing and no, you don't ever really know if you are getting the absolute lowest price you could get.
As far back as I can remember, this is how DVC has always "done business." Biggest thing that has changed is we now have better means to track and monitor the different prices people are being quoted.
I don't know how many sales DVC is losing over uncertainty--you either accept or reject the price that is quoted. Personally I don't ever remember NOT buying an item strictly because I heard someone else got a better deal.
I can understand being disappointed over exclusion from a certain sale. If I were in the market for more points, I'd have to think long and hard about driving 4 hours to Chicago. But at the end of the day, I really don't think DVC is moving toward a situation where every buyer--worldwide--is offered an identical price. This sale just happened to be a bit more visible than others.
