That's the plan. Today I got a haircut had lunch at the sub shop next door. Went to the grocery store for items we forgot, and some items. Me using an electric cart, with the O2 bottle. Wil pushing another g rocery cart. Home, ate some cottage cheese and fruit. I get the shakes if I don't eat snacks. Now doing my respiratory therapy treatment with my legs up. Next back to the recliner with my feet on a pillow. Rest the rest of the day.
I'm sure glad Wil is here to carry oxygen and put away the groceries, clean up my snack mess.
And my sister in KCMO is coming to see me on May 15th for a few nights. Maybe she can help plant my flowers I didn't get buy in April, or my nieces enjoy that too. We also have multiple bushes that didn't survive the drought. But Wil and the landscape guy can work on that.
Just a little bit at time.![]()

I've been down that road before too, sad thing it takes me longer to recover as I get older. Another surprise of turning 60 years old next month, I guess. My siblings are 8 and 10 years older and keep telling me, wait until you're my age.
I'm definitely taking baby steps. Not disheartened, we know some of the activities we wanted to during the NCL cruise and our Aulani stay will have to be cancelled (no hikes for me, bus rides only and maybe a helicopter tour. I might have to sit on the bus if we go near a live crater because of the sulfur fumes. I've done that before. But we will be going to Hawaii as even my Pulmonary doctor figures I'll be off oxygen by the end of May. The I only have less than 4 weeks to being able to lift more than 15 pounds because of the gallbladder surgery. And they'll get my right diagram working again. It just takes therapy.
For now, I never schedule more than 2 things in one day. I've got calls in to my physical therapist to reschedule some of his appointments because of conflicts with doctors, dentists and my sister's arrival at the airport on May 15th. And we think we'll just add some days in a 1 BR to our November trip. Although, I keep wondering if we could get a 2 BR and ask my DSIL and family to join us for Thanksgiving at WDW. That will be probably impossible to get 2 months out! Our trip dates in November are the 12 through the 20th. Wil's only looked at adding days before. But that's during school so DSIL's family could come. She needs some time off work and this would give her a pick me up. Wil just rolled his eyes at me because his DSis has a very sick 15 year old sheltie that she can't leave behind. So it looks like we'll do some add on days before our November trip.Last edited by denlo; 04-30-2012 at 04:06 PM.

Thanks Mary. I am doing much better. My big problem today is that I need to an 8 hour fast before blood lab work is down this afternoon. My metabolism is percolating so much that I have not been able to go more than 6 hours without eating. My vision blurs and sometimes and I start shaking. So I'm taking some greek yogurt and a gatorade along to eat as soon as they take the blood at the doctors office. I failed to make it there this morning.
This should be interesting, thankfully Wil is doing the driving. Oh, in an half an hour, the Physical therapist wants to my PT for the day. I probably won't get through everything because of the fasting.--Denise

Glad to see that you are healing, Denise. Also, so glad that it was caught when it was. It sounds like you were on your way to some serious pancreas problems. I had my gall bladder out a few months after my son was born. In my case, no nausea or fever, but severe pain. It felt like a contraction that never let up. The surgeon told me then to get it out because he said if it ever spread to my pancreas, it would be a life or death situation. So, again, I am SOOO glad that you caught it when you did.

I guess I'm lucky I don't really feel pain the way others do. The doctors were amazed how quickly the pancreatitis cleared up. They took a biopsy of the liver and although it took forever to get the results it was fine. But it took all the days post surgery and few more after discharge before the Renal doctors were satisfied that my Kidneys were functioning normal. However, the Cardiac doctor had a more pungent response to that. He felt just because I was having BP problems, and a little renal problems there was no reason they brought in additional specialists. The Internist in charge of my case could have kept and eye on everything and save them time, the insurance (and me) money. And would have been more of an inefficient operation. And then he went on to say it was not the first time he's told them that. But will they listen? Wil and I always enjoyed to talking to him and it turns out the nursing staff all felt the same way, even my hospital internist agreed but procedure was procedure.

I did another afternoon at the doctors. My own internist is really impressed how far I've progressed. And expects I can travel within 6 weeks, for what she is treating me but she expects the pulmonary to extend the no travel to July or August.
Only a fancy X-ray tomorrow called a fluoroscopy for whimpy right diaphragm. I need a day off.--Denise
