On Wednesday, March 28th, I was seeing my GP getting her blessing that I'm healthy. Taking a resporitary breathing function test, for my pulmonary doctor's appointment in two days later. The nurse and I we're marveling at my lung function improvement. Hey that next appt. is going to be a piece of cake. And we're ready to travel to WDW!

And around 2:00 PM nausea sets in and I found myself in the bathroom with full blown stomach flu symptoms that fade away by Friday evening. I'm a little puny but okay, and then I feel a couple of tiny twinges of pain in my upper abdomen on Saturday night. I'm deciding I'll sleep in the chair in the bedroom, because asthma symptoms are starting up. And the next morning, my DH, wdrl, Wil deciding we need to get to the hospital with a low grade fever be feeling weird. Finding out at the hospital my Blood pressure had dramatically dropped to 63/47. I,m jaundiced, I was dehydrated going into septic shock, they immediately pump me through with 3 one liter bags of fluids. ER techs continue to run tests, labs, X-rays, catsans, but no MRI because I have some hardware in my right ankle from a broken ankle in 1990. A GI doc confirming that I might have a lose gallstone floating in there.

And then, just resting on the ER gurney, catching my breath, being repeatedly asked don't you have any pain? I'm shrugging saying maybe a twinge. My DH telling the ER staff about my high pain tolerance. Whew, maybe I can take it easy now!

And then in walks a tall, dark, heavily tanned and handsome man wearing silk clothes that must have cost $5 grand. His upperbody so heavily muscled he looks like he's wearing body armor, placing his left hand on his hip, saying, I'm Ponce De Leon and I'm your surgeon and it looks like your gallbladder needs to come out, but you are a sick little lady we need to get well enough to withstand the surgery. And I'm being blown away looking at him wondering where his cape and helmet are because I'm starting to hallucinate. Then he pats my arm and says, you get better and I'll see you in a few days for surgery. Wil, my DH is looking at me a bit puzzled and I'm whispering to him, saying did he say his name was Ponce De Leon? DH says do you think we misunderstood? So I'm asking the Tech to confirm that was my surgeon. And getting a reply, that they think he's some important surgeon, but he would check my file for his name. The physician's assistant coming back confirming the name and telling that was lucky because he is the best in there is in Houston.

I'm laying there looking perplexed and I suddenly . . . I let out a little giggle and Wil, my DH is leaning nearby and chuckling. And Wil says, I think that's strike three, baby and Coronado's Revenge has returned! And we are going to have to cancel the first part of or vacation at Coronado Springs Resort at WDW! We can't help it we're LOL and near to Rolling on the floor. And the entire ER staff is looking incredulous some even stepping out of alcoves to watch us. And me, finally noticing the pain and twinges, trying to stop laughing going OMG! And Wil trying to catch his breath and explaining that we're being silly with tears running down our faces because we can't stop laughing. WOW!

Well it wasn't that easy, but it turned out my gallbladder had turned gangrene, with pancreatitis, an enflamed kidney and liver and I'm tanking, BP dropping. The surgeon on April 5th, doing a now or never life saving procedure taking my gallbladder out with one little cut in my belly button, using the same hole for cameras. It being successful, but my breathing is nil and a specialist for each sick body part is lpoking and looking at me, while I have multiple failures In and out of ICU, and into other hospital rooms, so swollen from all the fluids in me I can't feel my toes or fingers. Suddenly I became conscious 10 days later, because I'm hearing someone recording on my chart that I weighed 25 pounds more than I did on entry to the ER. I was downright mad because I was starving and gaining weight (that's not fair) and the nursing staff was LOL. Another five nights and six days in the hospital trying to get me mobile and breathing, eating using diuretics despite my sulfur allegery.

But now I'm home, on oxygen, doing respiratory inhalation treatments, pushing a walker around the house, eventually leaving the walker in the corner because I can walk fine in the house having physical therapy 3Xs a week. Seeing Ponce De Leon who signs off that the gallbladder surgery went well. Him twinkling and laughing with his PA and Wil because his little foray into my abdomen ruined our entire WDW vacation, and to add insult to injury, here I was sitting in their examination room on our check-in day at WDW! We cancelled our entire vacation a week earlier. So now we have points in holding. And I'm hoping to get doctors approval for a trip to WDW in June at SSR and maybe a few nights at VB, gotta use those holding points. Good thing we are retired.

Whew, I tired now after wring all that.

But you know I will defeat Coronado eventually.

Please come by and say hi, here on this thread because I'm feeling sorry for myself I need some encouragement. Thanks.

Wow, Denise-that's quite an ordeal you had! I'm so glad for you that you're home now. We're in the San Antonio airport, not too far from you, waiting for our plane to WDW. Believe me, you'll be thought of and missed on this trip! But we'll take lots of pictures and take lots of rides in your honor. Now what's your favorite ride? Favorite food?

Thanks everybody, I needed those words of encouragement.

Last night, I had a reaction to the diuretic, tanking going blue, pumping me full of benadryl; & Will driving me to ER again. Where they pumped me up full of steroids and kept me from going into respiratory shock. That all happened between 3:30 AM and 7:00 AM this morning.

So I'm resting, feeling And feeling a little sorry for myself.

Tell me again I'll be okay. Thanx.

Thanks DG, but we really like CSR and if we're short on points but want to add 2 - 3 nights before our DVC vacation with a cash stay. We'll do it. I love that resort it reminds me of our dreams to retire to the Southwest one day. That didn't work out as various family members had problems we had to fix and us living in Houston, being closet democrats. Shucks, maybe we can get a retirement condo someday in Port Everglades, FL. Where we can take last minute cheap cruises and watch the cruise ships come and go from the port.

Hey, I heard you got an iPad2. That's what I've using to write these posts. Pretty neat huh?

Did using iTunes work for you? Otherwise, I can't find the adobe download for the iPad on the Apple support websiteand pass on the link.

Hey, Dorothy I was wondering, if you were on you way to WDW. One thing I've been cravening is a walk around WS starting from Canada, UK, France ..... Until we get to Mexico and getting an order of nachos and me having a cervaza, Wil with his diet coke at the Cafe de San Angel, sitting on the Balcony watching the friendship boats and the shorebirds and people watching and enjoying the sounds of Epcot.

Or if you're at Mara, getting a cup of butternut (?) squash soup with my beer or water. Us sitting there chatting out by the pool at Jambo House. That sounds downright nice, I was hoping' we could do that with Mar' on the pontoon boat, but instead we'll have to postpone it for a future trip. We'll miss you again this fall, because our trip is two weeks behind you so we can do MVMCP, the Osborne lights and see all of the resorts decorated for the holidays.

Hmmm, that sounds nice. Post some photos to your TR, especially ones of the flowers at Epcot and birds. Two of my favorite rides are at AK, Kilamajaro Safari and EE. I don't expect you to do the latter, but could you take a safari ride for me? Thnx.

I'm doing better just had a Greek yogurt for a snack. Gotta rest now, too trembly.
