Stopping Email notifications –
08-24-2011,08:18 AM
Apparently I screwed it all up. I want to stop Email notifications on subscribed threads. However, I do want to continue seeing new posts on threads I've posted on when I come here. KWIM? So I'm not sure what I did, but I am still getting Email notifications, which I don't want. I know I'm coming here anyways, so the Email notifications are just unnecessary. But now when I come here, I'm not getting any "subscribed threads" info that there have been any new posts on the threads I've posted on. Is this confusing what's happened and what I want to happen? Can anyone figure out how I screwed up and how I can fix it?

Dorothy, select at the top the pulldown, Forum Actions, General Settings. In General Settings in the middle under Messaging and Notification there is a pull down menu next to Default Thread Subscription Mode. It's probably showing Do not Subscribe. Select Through My Control Panel Only. Then on the bottom, click Save changes.
You will need to manually look at your subscribed threads when you access the forum. It's under Quick Links, Subscribed Threads.
However, I prefer to leave my default to Do Not Subscribe and then when it's a thread I really want to see each answer I then select the pull down above the thread called, Thread Tools, and I click subscribe to this this thread. At that point you can ask for email notification or control panel notification only. That way I don't subscribe to every thread.
Hopefully this will help you get it the way you want.--Denise

I'm glad it cut down on the emails for you Dorothy.
It's possible on those threads you manually subscribed to them so if you want to unsubscribe from them you can do this:
When in the thread, select the pull down above the thread called, Thread Tools, and then click unsubscribe to this this thread. Then the next time you post to that thread it will be added to your control panel list.--Denise
