Its encouraging to see that Disney is rolling out Aulani's Phase 2 ahead of schedule. I hope it means that DVC point sales are strong enough to warrant opening more space, or at least that there is demand for cash bookings of Aulani's DVC villas. Either way, its a good sign for the DVC and the Members.

Based on information from Aulani's Master Declaration of Condominium, Phase 2 will include 56 lock-off two-bedroom villas, 56 dedicated two-bedroom villas, and 11 Grand Villas. Each lock-off two-bedroom villa can be booked as a two-bedroom villa or as a studio and one-bedroom. Since Phase 1 did not include any Grand Villas, these Phase 2 GVs will be the first ones available at Aulani. Combined with the villas that comprise Phase 1 -- which is schedule to open August 29, 2011 -- Aulani will have 106 lock-off two-bedrooms, 79 dedicated two-bedrooms, and 11 Grand Villas.

Although Phases 1 and 2 include 196 villas, I do not know how much of that inventory has been declared for the DVC membership. On any given Use Day, DVC member can book only the percentage of a resort that has been declared for the Membership. Records filed and recorded by DVD with the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances show that DVD made an initial declaration of Units in June 2010, but there does not appear to have been any subsequent declarations at Aulani, at least through March 31, 2011.
