we may have waited for Beach had we known. My kids loved that pool when they were little. Now, doesnt matter much. They like the Water PARKS.

It was BWV, VWL and then BCV. WebmasterDoc on the DISboards has a data about the sale history for the DVC. Here's a portion for the time period in question. He doesn't indicate when BCV or VWL sold out. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.ph...40&postcount=5

    October 1, 1995 -- Vero Opens
    March 1, 1996 -- HHI Opens
    July, 1996 -- BWV Opens
    Fall, 1998 -- OKW Sells-out
    Fall, 1998 -- Announce WLV
October, 1999 - Notice of OKW selling out again after adding buildings 62, 63, 64
    November, 2000 -- VWL Opens, BWV Sells-out
December, 2000 -- VWL sales begin
February 3, 2002 -- Sales begin for BCV
March 6, 2002 –- Reservations begin for BCV
I think BC built additional rooms in 1996. We stayed there in April and I remember walking to Epcot with construction walls blocking the area where construction was taking place and being told by CMs more rooms were be added. This construction was near where the BCVs were later built, but they were not BCVs.

Even after a resort sells out it's possible that the DVC still has a large number of points available for sale. The DVC can declare a resort sold out at anytime. And the DVC can continue to own more points than the minimum 2% they are required to own in each resort. And since they own those points they can sell all but the last 2% anytime the DVC wants. So it's possible that guides were still selling BWV points even when VWL or BCV points were being sold.

Wait a second; shouldn't all those references be DVD owning the points (the developer), not DVC (the management company)? It may largely be symantics but until something is declared to the associates DVD can do whatever they want with it, but after it is declared then the room is accessible to members for reservations regardless of who owns the points representing it, right?

Yea I did get DVD and DVC mixed up. But I think the average member doesn't know the difference between DVC and DVD, it's all Disney to them. And I'm not really convince they'd be wrong to lump the Developer and Management Company in the same group as Disney. I mean after all it was sure convenient how DVD turned over all of those SSR points to Disney to use as an upgrade for the Value Guests in 2010 so Disney could move those guests to SSR and accept more reservations in the values.

It definitely was nice for those value guests to get the upgrade. I guess my point is that DVD owning them and the points being undeclared made that a lot easier; I think if they were declared into the association (even if DVD hadn't sold them yet) there may have been more red tape on them releasing the rooms to CRO for that type of upgrade.

Anyone know if I'm correcting in thinking there are three possible statuses for a unit that have different levels of availability & rules (such as breakerage @ 60 days) for promotional use (Developer's points, free upgrades, etc.), member use, and CRO booking?

    1. Unit declared into the association (DVC) and points owned by a member
    2. Unit declared but points not sold yet
    3. Unit undeclared and still sole property of DVD

I'm thinking that status #2 is potentially the most confusing, because members could book the room at that point since it is part of the association but the points are still owned 'by Disney'...

I have to say that a DVC resort at the Grand Floridian is of no interest to me. I have stayed at all the monorail resorts, and GF was my least favorite. I am much more interested in the rumor about a DVC villa on the old River Country site. I am hoping that, if that happens, it will be an expansion of the Wilderness Lodge Villas, much like the Treehouses for SSR, so that more points will become available for VWL.

I would love it if the villas at the old River Country site was connected to VWL. I own at VWL, so it would be nice to have the 11 month advantage the way SSR owners have the 11 month advantage for THV!

Same here; that would be great and I'd happily add on some more to our VWL contract. I could see one problem off the bat though- when would the contract expire? Make it a split with a new date for new ones or even the new points end in '42?

Well that's what the THV's do they expire the same time that SSR does - 01/31/54.

I could see that those points could have an extended contract life along the lines of OKW's extension. But I don't think the DVC is ready to offer an extension to another resort after the problems they encountered with OKW's owners.

denlo- I was thinking exactly the same things! We'll see what happens. From the leaked plans that have floated around a while back my guess is that it will be a smallish stand-alone though; seemed like an awfully big addition to VWL but one can dream.
