I am so excited.

We were going to wait till the baby was older but once DCL announced that the Magic would sail out of NYC in the summer of '12 we could not pass it up.
We will be doing the 8 night Bahamas cruise, sailing on Aug 17th.
I am not even done with all my planning for this summers 10 day trip @ the Treehouses and all I want to do it look at cruise stuff!

Congratulations Matt! It sounds like a great cruise. I understand that about being excited in that manner. I think it helps that you've been to WDW before so you have a general idea of what you want to do so you can wing it.

I know just how you feel. The NYC options just tickles one pink! And I want to see all the cruise stuff, too - even though it is far away - love to have it off on the horizon to dream about (going Nov '11).

Is this your first cruise on any line, or just on Disney? I've never cruised at all, and since DH has no desire to cruise, I'd have to go solo. Now that I hear some lines (inclusing Disney?) will go out of Galveston, which isn't too far, I'd love to cruise. But since I'd have to go solo, I just don't yet have the courage to do my first ever cruise solo. I do recommend cruise critic, though. I also go on it sometimes, since DS works on a Princess ship, and everyone's pretty nice and helpful there.

Cool Matt, I hope you have a blast!
I have never cruised, but now that there is the option to go out of NYC I may give it a try. I read somewhere about 2 day Disney Cruise to "nowhere", that might be an ideal way to see how I like it. Somehow the thought of being "stuck" on a boat has always turned me off, but a two day cruise will help me to see if I feel differently once I am actually on the boat.

have fun!!!!!
Captain Jack's Princess aka Allison
It is not the destantion so much as the journey. Captain Jack Sparrow
Everything I've ever done that's ultimately been worthwhile has initially scared me to death

I might be a little hesitant about those real short cruises, from what I've been told. According to Matt, when his ships have real short cruises of a couple days or less, they seem to attract the young, singles, who affectionately call it a "booze cruise" and seem to be out to "let's see how drunk I can get in 48 hours." Now this is on Princess, Disney probably attracts a much more family-oriented, less "wild" sort of crowd. By the way, before anyone thinks of Princess as a party boat, this is only on short day or two cruises, longer ones are fine, very fun and family-oriented. From what I've heard, lots of the cruise lines seem to attract young, single, wild partiers for
day or two jaunts.
