Disneyland construction update - April 2011

There are a lot of construction projects currently underway at the Disneyland Resort, many of which are a few short weeks from completion. Dave Welty recently returned from a visit to Disneyland and sent along some photo of the progress.

Great pics. Thanks Dwelty for update. How'd you ever get some of those pictures? Aierl's Under Sea Adventure looks almost done on the outside and Carsland is starting to look like the winding roadway you saw in the movie. It's lookin' good.

The Grand Californian has a deck up on the 6th floor of the villa wing. It was intended as a place to view World of Color from the resort, but ended up not having the greatest view given the final positioning of the WoC effects.

I suspect Dave took a lot of the photos from up there. You can get a pretty good high-level view of all of the Paradise Pier construction plus Carsland from up high.

When in 2012 is Carsland due to open, we are planning on a trip in 2012 during the NHRA races and want to go to Disneyland, that would be great if a new area was open!

I'm sure they want to have it open before the summer season. Last year World of Color opened in late May and this year's new attractions (Mermaid, Star Tours, Goofy's Sky School) are all set to debut the first week of June.

Very unofficially I've heard that Carsland is "ahead of schedule", but they have never publicly stated a schedule. The later in the year you plan your trip, the better. I'd give about even odds for it being open in June. Less of a chance earlier than June and greater chance as the year goes on.
