We prefer the TiW discount to DDP, that said, if you decide to go the DDP route, the counter-service one would seem the way to go. Just remember to use it all and not buy too much food for the villa.

First DVC Trip Oct 2011 - Dining plan or no? –
01-02-2011,07:32 PM
I had our BLT resv for the last week of Sept, but there's a wine festival north of us we really wanted to go to a few days before that and we didn't want to do a weekend away just 3 days before going to DW. So I called and was able to move it back (up? forward?)...later to Oct 5-11. My parents will be meeting us there. They'll be driving so they can load up the car with some food and supplies. I want to save money by eating some meals in the villa, but we don't want to do all our meals there.
So is it more cost effective to get one of the dining plans or just wing it? We'll have the 7yo twins with us, so we probably wouldn't be going to alot of sit down restaurants. We've done Cindy's Royal Table the last two trips, so we'll probably pass on that.
2BR dedicated lake view with a req for even numbered upper floor. I've heard you can see the lake and the fireworks from many of them.

We went over Thanksgiving and did most of our dining in the condo. Dining plan just seemed to be a little more food than we wanted. We just had too much food left over from Thanksgiving that would have went to waste.

Dining plan or no? –

We have done both. We preferred the dining plan. It is a lot of food! We usually try one signature resturant (2 entitlements/person) during our visit. Snacks in the room and 2 meals a day. Enjoy!

TiW = Tables in Wonderland. You need to either be a FL resident -or- have an Annual pass to buy in, then you get a 20% discount on most table service 9and even a couple counter service) restaurants. Discount is good for holder and up to 9 guests (10 people on same check) and applies to alcohol [a draw for some, not too significant for me!
], appetizers, food- you name it!
Here is a page with some (unofficial) info: http://allears.net/din/dde.htm

I prefer the TIW discount to dining plan. Dining plan way too much food for us. Plus we are not slaves to the ADR printout.
