The 2011 set of Pixar stamps covers eight Pixar films: Toy Story 1; Toy Story 2; Toy Story 3, Cars; Cars 2; Wall-E; Ratatouille; and Up. That leaves four Pixar films that have yet to be depicted on a stamp: Monsters, Inc; Finding Nemo; The Incredibles; and Bug's Life.

I could see the four remaining films each having a character depicted in the 2012 set of Pixar stamps. That would leave one slot remaining. I like Mar's idea of giving that last slot to Luxo Junior, the iconic image of Pixar Studios. But I could also see another character from the Toy Story films appearing in the 2012 set. How can they honor Pixar Studios and NOT include Woody?

Although the Linn's Stamp New article states that the Pixar stamp series concludes in 2012, there is reason to hope that an additional set or two might be released in the future. As denlo points out in her post, the USPS quickly expanded the 'Art of Disney' stamp series due to its popularity. Hopefully, these Pixar stamps will also be popular and Pixar, Disney, and the USPS will all agree that more stamps should be issued.

One thing we didn't mention is that a new Pixar movie will be released in 2012, The Brave. Could this movie be included on the 2012 stamps? Afterall the 2011 stamps are being released after Cars2 comes out. And the 2011 stamps will have a first day release ceremony that is in Anaheim and I wouldn't be surprised if it will be at Carsland.

    From the usps.com website:
Oops yes you are right of course! I was looking at the date of the Linn's article Wil referenced, that was 5/9! I guess it was wishful thinking, I am really looking forward to the pixar stamps.

You are just the customer the USPS is looking for. The USPS wouldn't mind if the stamps were saved and never used for postage.

When on vacation, we frequently send post cards and letters to ourselves which serve as a log of our travels. For our Disney trips, we have been using the Art of Disney stamps that came out a few years ago. Our supply of Disney stamps is getting quite low, so the Pixar stamps are coming out at just the right time.

The Pixar stamps are now available for purchase from the usps.com website. USPS will probably not ship the stamps until the official release date. To order the stamps, go to http://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/stor...WT.ac=10007927

The stamps will be released on August 19, 2011, and can be purchased from your local post office beginning on that date. However, most post offices carry very few commemorative stamps and it might be difficult finding these stamps at your local post offices.

Keep in mind that these Pixar stamps are 'Forever' stamps, meaning they will always pay the first class postage rate regardless of future postal rate changes.

So did we! I don't want to miss out on having a supply of these stamps. USPS is really cutting back on its printings. Years ago, it would print 500 million or more of a commemorative stamp issue. But now, its not uncommon to read that USPS orders only 25 million stamps from the printers.

p.s. - When you say you ordered 200, did you order 200 stamps or 200 panes of stamps????

LOL 200 stamps in total, not 200 panes. I do most of my banking online, so 200 stamps will last me years. I use them for sending birthday and anniversary cards, and I don't have a very large family.
