Last year on the big family trip my nieces and nephews missed about 3 days. It wasn't a problem. But my daughter n law may say no just to spite me. She seems to think I'm overbearing and controlling. I really can't understand y. If she would just shut up and do what I say like everyone else does then we wouldn't have any problems. lol I'm dreading a Spring Break trip. I'm going to have to find a way to go before or after. She's a stay at home Mom courtesy of me. Maybe the funds will dry up until she sees things my way. That wouldn't be considered controlling would it? hahahaha (in my Evil Queen voice)

Of course it depends on the child and the parents, but I always took my kids out for a week when they were small. They are both grown now and I bet they forgot most every day they went to school. But they have clear memories of our trips to WDW. I would never tell another parent what to do, it's an individual decision. Just saying my kids never suffered at all by missing a week of school, even in older grades. As has been posted, it's horrible to visit WDW during school breaks. Obviously if my kids grades went down I would not have done this.

My dad would never take us out of school for more than a day for any almost reason as kids, {he didn't even like us being home sick with our stay at home mom!} but then again he was a teacher so that may have influenced his thinking and vacation schedule a bit.

You'd let a silly thing like GRADES interfere with Disney trips? Tisk tisk...
Not at all!
Sounds like a good plan though...
