Disney Vacation Club is on the verge of a scheduled upgrade to its computer system.* Due to the nature of the upgrade, Member Services will close for more than a day in mid-October.

Okay, one step closer to online reservations!

I'm curious to see how the one reservation number will work with the dining plan. Will we still be able to book it for only one resort when doing a split stay? It would also be nice if multiple credit cards could be used for a single villa. The cruise lines base the CC on the key card, so I would think Disney could too. Although I don't think CRO allows this option, so I don't expect a change regarding the CC.

I think the concept of prepaying for Disney Dining Plans is a bit lame. A deposit is understandable, but the whole thing up front? For those of us who book at the 11 and 7 month window, it's nice to get everything booked up all at once. Now I'm going to want to wait until a few weeks out so I can collect interest on my money instead of Disney. We all know they get enough our our $$$.

I never plan to use DDP, but it seems like a lot of people would enjoy being able to ADD and pay for it at check in... Aside from the Disney collecting interest angle, is there a reason they want it on there at least 48 hours in advance? Perhaps just to try and make it less convenient for people renting points for cash?

There is an unsubstantiated rumor out there that starting next year, DVC members will be able to book a dining plan for less than the entire length of stay.

    Are the two related?

Not really, my question is just that, a question. If you have the same (one) reservation number for the length of stay and for every villa, when renting multiple villas, how will the DVC/Disney apply the DP? And will you be able to have the DP at one resort and not at another? I have not heard a policy one way or the other. It's just currently the DP is applied to a reservation number.

I wasn't really trying to answer your question since it can't be answered yet. We don't know much, if anything, about the new system.

I only offered some info on a potential new change that might have some impact on what you are planning.
