Hello I am still waiting for AKV

Hi all,

I am new here I have been trolling the boards for about a month been all over to DIS boards and PSSCaculator etc. I went out and bought the Unofficial uide to WDW. I bought 200 points at AKV (just waiting on the contract to close) and already know I need about 200 more if I want to do ABD. I used the contact email address on the home page to try to get a referral but got no response. So I gave the referral to a family of four I met at all places in a Universal Studios Orlando queue. They were a nice family and they were carrying a DVC cloth bag which is how I recognized them. I asked them a bunch of questions while we were in line. They very happily answered all my questions and the kids piped up and told me and my neice why and what they liked about DVC. They said they were going to spend more time in the resort at AKV since there is so much for the kids to do.

I usually travel solo but I have already asked friends and family to come along. My next door neighbor has a child of 2 or 3 and I old em for her fifth birthday I would let them use my points to take her to WDW. I am trying to get my brother in his wife to go with me to the F&W festival at epcot in OCT/NOV of 2011. I told my sister that she can take my neice when she turns five to WDW her lodging would be paid for. Can you tell I am excited.

I like the idea that DVC is more than just about a hotel room that you stay at week after week. I do plan on getting 200 more points so I can do some of the other things that DVC offers. I really like the ABD trips and have been reading the trip reports on the DIS Boards. Right now I will just stick with my 200 points and pay those off before I get more. I am thinking a lower MF resort next time but waiting on what BLT will do in the future before I decide on SSR or BLT.

Welcome to another solo traveler. I usually travel solo, because my Disney urge is MUCH bigger than DH's. AKV is such a great resort (s). What a sweet offer to your neighbor, and also to your sister.

Welcome! I purchased DVC solo back in 2003 and have made many a solo trip. Even though I'm married now I still have some solo trips because like simbasmom my Disney urge is greater than my husband's and he doesn't get much vacation time.

Next year I'll start earning more vacation time than DW, so by 2012 I'll have enough that a solo trip would be a viable way for me to get my 2 Disney trips a year in and us still do other travel plans we've discussed. However, she has said I'm not allowed to go on vacation without her. Time will tell how it pans out for us!

I have more vacation time than my husband, and I work a flex schedule so I have a day off every two weeks, but he would NEVER EVER allow me to go to WDW without him. I went to London and Paris without him, Colorado ski country without him, NYC without him...but WDW...NEVER!

And this is from the man that was convinced that he would "hate" WDW before his first trip in 2005. Now he's begging to go. Oh how times have changed!

Yeah I m wanting to do the ABD tours so I know I have to buy an extra 200 points some where. I m glad to see you going to other places like Disney Paris and such.
