Training question:
Who does tempo runs, and what do you do for your Tempo run?
I did my first ever one today, and don't know if I did it right. Just went at a faster pace for a shorter distance. Tried to do 3 miles under 30 minutes. I did it, but it was hard up the hills. I haven't run that fast since that 5K last September. Anyhoo, I don't even know if I did it right LOL. Just seems like every book I pick up it talks about the importance of doing them.
Lisa, you are a braver soul than me. Just think--- you are going to have some great karma for sacrificing your time for such a good purpose.
Laura/Carrie-- thanks for updating us on the course. Not that I know the Jan 1/2 route, but it sounds fun. So basically we hit every park except MK, right?
Gail, how ya' feeling?
Nono, you in running tights yet? I was giggling to myself just the other day thinking of your sweatshirt for your 1/2.

Lisa....glad you had a good time and just look at all that CT you got over the weekend.
nono....so do the cops have your drink ready for you at the end of your run?
Grandkids kept me busy all day Sat. so I had my CT day, but I still haven't gotten out to run yet.

I'm feeling ok except for the coughing. It's not as often as it has been but it's still so annoying. I've got to get out and either run or go to Curves tomorrow cause this is making me
not doing anything. I was up and moving most of the day on Sat. with the kids so I did get in some kind of workout. Of course the weather hasn't been the greatest around here lately either. Lots of rain, it finally cleared up today.

Cops -- no -- no mixologists locally -- though my buddy on the next island over would likely have one waiting for me...

Oh, and I forgot the number 1 reason why nothing goes wrong when I'm running -- 'cause I am always wearing my RoadID, complete with my Blue Cross/Blue Shield info right on it. It's like insurance -- have it, you'll never need it. The day you don't...... So, wear you ROADID! No excuses:

Been doing my 7 mi every-other-day thing. So far, so good. No tempos right now Rozzie. Best advice I got from old farts in the masters running forums is to make sure you do a mi warm up and mi cool down (in other words, if it is a 4 mi run, only mi 2 & 3 would be at tempo pace). My tempo paces aren't usually more than 15-25 sec/mi faster than my averages for the last couple weeks. Does that make sense?

Oops, we did a some warm up walking and cool down walking, but not warm up running, etc. Thanks for the advice!

Scott and I both agreed that we need RoadID's. We got 2 anklets picked out, but you gave me a excellent idea to have my insurance information on there too.
What color did you get? I was thinking of either blue or hot pink to stand out some. I guess they would see it either way.

Laura is referring to the Jan Disney Half Marathon. I know that the Princess is a different route.
I hve just begun doing tempo runs also, Rozzie. Today, I did a walk run that was somewhat tempo like. I did a run 3 min walk 2 min. The running minutes were about 30 seconds faster than my usual paceLisa
Everything you want is right there, just outside your comfort zone.

We have anklets too -- did the black and silver reflective...
Also the RoadID site sells this strips of reflective tape - I can vouch for its effectiveness through many washings...

I also have the wristband for reflectiveness and Renee has a lighted collar that I got at PetSmart.
