Roz--don't calories not count on birthdays? I make a lot of birthday cakes for people, and I always tell them that birthday cakes don't have calories. So martinis should be great!

Because my form really falls apart on the TM, I did 4.5 miles around sunset outside. The humidity was so high that with my headlamp, it looked like I was running in fog.
nono and DG--I don't want to self-incriminate myself on the job
. I will say that all the people I've met seem really nice. They could only find 32 hours of work for me a week, which is enough to qualify for benefits. I hope to make the most of it. Plus, I think the setting is one I'm familiar with, as it's pretty much what I did all four years of training, so I'm thinking the transition will be easier. Overall, I think it is a really good job right out of school.
And DG, I'll be passing through your neck of the woods on my way to Niagara.
Roz--I'll be in a new age group, too!
Your b-day sounds pretty sweet, too. The bourbon trail idea is what I had hoped to do last year, but it didn't pan out. This year my good friend actually suggested it and I jumped at the chance. The original plan was just to visit one or two distilleries, but then I told her about this "passport" you can get stamped at each one and send off for a free T-shirt and she decided she wants to hit up all of them. (There are 8 on the trail, but one of them is not regularly open, so they let you get away with just 7 stamps.)
Sophia: “The race was underway. I start off slow. I’m cagey, like a panther, but when the time is right I pounce! The crowd is on its feet: ‘Sophia! Sophia!’ I could see the finish line; it was only 200-300 yds away. And then, it happened—what every runner dreads. I hit the wall.”
Dorothy: “Ah, ma, you ran out of steam?”
Sophia: “No, I actually hit a wall. They put up a new Wendy’s on Collins Ave.”

So MM, if you tell us anymore, is the board going to self destruct?
I'm just kidding--just happy for you that you found a job!
I had one terrible workout last night. I got to the gym suuuuuper late--DH was having a crisis at work so I had to go home and cook and rearrange my workout schedule. I was just too tired to get my normal level of activity out of the session. It was really a bummer because yesterday was the first day I left work and really WANTED to run. Didn't take long, but now I want that feeling you get after a good run.
Hopefully doing at least 4 miles tonight, before heading to slower lower DE this weekend!

Bus service –
08-06-2010,07:14 PM
Hi - hoping all you experienced folks can help answer a running related question. DH and I are signed up for the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon. We want to make dinner ressies for that evening before the race (maybe at Via Napoli!) but want to be sure to leave enough time to get changed and catch bus transportation to the start. Do you have an idea of when the buses leave for the start? We ran the Disney marathon like 12 years ago and I have a recollection that the race started at 6am and the last bus left the hotel at 4am(?).
Any help you can provide is much appreciated“To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.” ~Unknown

Cloudnut, no worries. Reality is bad workouts happen. Just makes you appreciate the good ones even more.

I am developing a tendon issue on left foot. Or what I think is tendon issue that is from my Mizunos being too tight. Switched out shoes (put on lunar flys) a mile in and pain went from 8 to 2 (0-10 pain scale). Finished 9 mile tempo run with just some achiness, nothing too concerning. Now though I have some swelling in that foot. Really wanted to get house cleaned up tonight but I think I better ice and elevate after my core exercises.
I did email my sport doc guru spazzing out a little while ago. I swear, I am going to owe that man a lot of money, beer or something when this marathon is over with. I am the picture of OCD paranoid.
Funny thing is, put my Nike Frees on, and no pain whatsoever.

Roz: Hope your pain clears up soon!!!
What's wrong with a little OCD?
I suppose I have plenty for me and many others, so perhaps you don;'t really need your own...
Funny on the Mizunos; I decided last long run I was only going to where mine for short runs from now on; >= ~6 miles (long for me still!
) the toe box starts to feel too confining on my left foot and either the outside of my little toe or my big toe (but not both; maybe I lean sideways?
) starts bothering me... That hasn't happened in my Brooks GTS Adrenaline 9s, so those are my long day shoes (and most likely my race shoes for the Air Force Half!
)
cyl-e: Not sure about busses for W&D; hopefully someone can give you some info. soon!
Meanwhile, back in Geekdom- I had a new crit by 2/10ths of a pound; this morning I was 214 even!
Did my scheduled 210 crunches, weights + 16 min. ellip; glad to get back on the horse and exercise two days in a row.
Tomorrow morning will be interesting; DW & I are in a 5k together. Registered in the spring; she started C25k to prep for it but never finished. In fact, I think she is planning to walk almost, if not all, of it tomorrow. Originally I was going to stay by her side, but last night she started saying she wasn't sure she wanted me to stay with her (I might make her self-conscious about not running or something like that) soooooooo, I may actually try and run it in the morning. Mixed feelings on that; I wasn't training or trying to psyche myself up for a 5k this season; been fully focused on building distance for the half. We'll see what happens tomorrow!
Back to OCD, the planner in me doesn't like that ambiguity in this AT ALL...
Have a great weekend everybody!
