Well if you want my advice....I think you should figure out the knee issue. But all the while keeping your base. I cringe at the though of "starting all over", and even after my race season ends will keep a moderate base just for fitness. That way when I go into a training cycle, I am not behind the eight ball. Light easy miles, nothing serious. But it will make training for your HM easier, and really it's only 4 months away. I trained for my HM for 7 months of running before I ran it to be honest. I am not a natural runner, and I have to work twice as hard to get conditioned. It seems you are a natural so this may not apply to you.
Now the knee, I had ITB, and I know Coach Nono had a wicked case of it too. What I did was roll out with a foam roller, everyday. Lots of yoga and stretching exercises. Pigeon poses before and after running. Crossing legs over and touching toes all day at work. Fish oil. Cutting back mileage. I do think that knee issues are a result of weak hips. I am doing some hip exercises now that is in this months issue of Running Times. I will see if I can find something similar and paste it here. I know Nono does a slideboard which I can bet is even better to ward off knee issues. Women are famous for weak hip flexors---or say I've read.
Good luck to you MM, can't wait to read your daily progress!
ETA: Try these and see if it helps!

Congratulations!
SHOES!
Whole 'nother topic. Will have to look later.
For our Peacocks not running 1000 miles, it's not a big deal, 'cept that it was one of my three goals for 2009. Second one was completing the 18 mi race I did a couple weeks ago. Third one is coming up: completing my first marathon. I think I'll write fewer goals next year. I'm tired! (And kinda sore after yesterday!)

Way to go, Mr. Roz!!!

I think it is a big deal, nono. Since we're not even to the end of the year, that's averaging over 23 miles a week! Don't sell your self short!
Thanks for the article, Roz. Some of those stretches I do anyway, as part of my post-run stretching. There sure are a lot! I'm trying to follow my coach's (that is, my sister's) advice of not going straight from training hard for the 10K/13K into training for the 1/2. She recommended a period of cross-training not to burn out (certainly running some, but not exclusively) and felt I could train for the 1/2 in 12 weeks, given my current running base. I did find a 12 week 1/2 training schedule, too.Sophia: “The race was underway. I start off slow. I’m cagey, like a panther, but when the time is right I pounce! The crowd is on its feet: ‘Sophia! Sophia!’ I could see the finish line; it was only 200-300 yds away. And then, it happened—what every runner dreads. I hit the wall.”
Dorothy: “Ah, ma, you ran out of steam?”
Sophia: “No, I actually hit a wall. They put up a new Wendy’s on Collins Ave.”

I added my running up, and I've run 260 miles since the start of June. I started running mid-March, but I was doing timed intervals then, not distance-based, so I'm not sure how far I ran (it wasn't that much, though I'm sure).
I think I'll need to ask for new shoes for Christmas
(well, probably before then, considering most of my miles came from running on pavement)

Woohoo, I'd LOVE to meet up with you MM! And cool that both Rozaroo and Gailaroo are interested too, as is NJNick. (if someone else posted availability and I missed it I am sorry).
I don't want to hijack this thread any more than I already have.
I'll start a new one soon for all of those who'd like to attend a meetup sometime around the race.

Sorry, Mar, but I meant for the Princess Half the beginning of March. I would love to be able to meet up with everyone in January, but I can't seem to make the excuse
. I looked into running the 5K (registration is full) or volunteering for the marathon (I guess they have all they need) so I will have to catch up with you later.

My 20 miler went well today. So well I felt frisky at the end I picked it up over the last 4 miles, ending with a 0845 pace for my last mile. Now I can barely walk, icing, and slugging around house like I have no legs. But looking back I am glad I did it, I needed the confidence booster for Rehoboth. My overall pace was 10:22. I haven't had a LR like that in forever. But then again it was cool/cold, and the weather makes a huge impact on my running.
Speaking of cold, I did try a mini dress rehearsal this morning. I saw it would be 48 with 15 mph wind out of the north. I was running a 20 mile out and back on the waterfront for the entire route, and thought it would be nippy enough with tradewinds to try for the capri tights, long sleeve white tech, and L peacock shirt with my gloves. Well 4 miles into it I had shedded 50% of all of that.
So basically I run better cold, than bundled up. Back to the drawing board. Right now I am thinking no long sleeve tech, but have a throw away something on top for first few miles (in addition to throw away I will wear prior to start of race) and then go down to Small peacock shirt with gloves if the temp is above freezing. Anyone confused? Good cuz' I sure as heck am!
