I can't compare the TM to outdoors because I have never been on one except for my stress test. I do find that running/walking in the neighborhood isn't a great place to run/walk. It would be ok if I could stay in the street and not have to use the sidewalks. I was able to stay in the street more this morning then I usually can. The one good thing about running/walking the neighborhood is that there are some hills that I can use. Not that I like the hills, but I figure that we will not be on flat roads for the whole 13.1 miles so I better get used to them.

Running outside beats the pants off of the treadmill any day!!!
Just having different things to see, feel, smell, etc makes it more interesting and your brain doesn't slip as quickly into "how long til I am done" mode.
I have a hard time exercising any time. I keep waiting for it to bite me and just become part of the routine...but so far ...not so much.

You would be surprised how hilly it will seem. I remember last year, on the way into MK going down and then back up the hill near the contemporary (under the bridge). Let me tell you, I was far enough into the race that the hill seemed MAJOR!
Most of the hills are gradual, but some of the walking is up and down those corkscrew on and off ramps (I only made it down the off ramp since I got swept but I think you had to go back up one in the 1/2 - I know for sure you did in the full).
We need a little fall over fainting smilie.

Gail - My favorite time is Sat am runs. I get up. HAv a Pwerade and a bar of some sorts adn head out about an hour later. Lvoe being fresh to start. SAdly, we'd have to get up at 2:30 or 3 to do that during the week adn run with dh. So, it's 5:30 or 6 before we get out for SRs. Makes them a bit harder. I am almost always faster on my LRs, but you do wha tyou got to do.
ROzzie - Before really hot races I take salt tabs. (Lava Salts) Before teh 07 full, they told us to take a salt pack before we started adn oen at mile 17. My fingers didn't swell at all like they usually did. That's kind of my first sign now that I don't' have enough salt if they swell.
nono - Speed work once a week or so is good. Even pushing it to the limits every now and then is good. Just so you let the body recover.
Picked up dh's bike last night. Mine will be in Thursday. Woo hoo!

Went home and did about a 6 mile ride to/from the ice cream shop. Dh barely pedaled.
Think we'll like our niew bikes!

lol Laura. That's why Carrie has gained 20 pounds since marathon '07.
Still, I was a hero. I was dead last night and not feeling great, so dh was thrilled that I would ride with him, let alone, go for ice cream. I think ice cream is the secret to my marriage.
BTW, Last year, I think Ghiardelli's was 7 or 7:30. SHould have given people plenty of time to get to bed and stare at the ceiling.

I thought my fingers swelled because of slinging my arms....

7 or 7:30 sounds perfect to me!!! Maybe we will bring the munchkins this time. MiL is going with us this trip....but I don't know how to get her to the race (especially with the kids) because she is one of those people that can't find her rearend with both hands looking.
I am hoping Dad and his wife will come along as well!
